Tracks from Guns N' Roses' infinite work-in-progress, Chinese Democracy, have appeared online. The nine tracks, billed as 'mastered' and 'finished' leaked on one site on June 18. Appearing alongside the album's title track were the tracks 'Better' and 'Madagascar', all of which have appeared in various forms previously. Three of the tracks were previously unheard. Unfortunately, the tracks have since been taken down from the offending site. The saga of the album, reported to have so far cost US$13 million, continues. ...

Filed under: Sony PlayStation 3 , Microsoft Xbox 360 , Rhythm According to The New York Times , the arrival of Rock Band 2 later this year will not only be accompanied by expected fanfare, but the belated blaring of scented weapon rockers, Guns N' Roses. Taken from the band's eternally upcoming album, Chinese Democracy , "Shackler's Revenge" will reportedly grace Harmonix's sequel, signaling the first time a new Axel-lent song has managed to find its way onto a disc in a very long time. While the Times views the track's in-game appearance as a portent of the band's album making it to store shelves before the great shelf extinction of 2019, less optimistic folks (that's us!) have simply accepted an unpleasant truth. Rock Band 2 is never coming out. Now that "Shackler's Revenge," a track allegedly from Guns N' Roses century-in-the-making Chinese Democracy , is officially making its debut on the soundtrack to upcoming video game Rock Band 2, some are wondering if this means the album might actually be released someday. So, an investigative journalist with huge balls and a vague affiliation with the Website New Guns N' Roses cornered an employee of MTV Games (RB2's developer) at this week's E3 conference, trying to land a scoop. After an on-the-record interview failed to glean the desired info, our intrepid reporter pretended to shut off his camera while the video-game spokesman dropped huge, exciting, probably false details about Democracy 's purportedly impending release. He claims it will actually be four albums released simultaneously, and that GN'R are in talks with MTV for a big promotional push to coincide with this September's Video Music Awards. Could this possibly be true? We doubt it. But if it is, Axl has probably already dispatched a team of ninjas to the offices of MTV Games. Which Will Come Out First: ‘Chinese Democracy’ or ‘Where the Wild Things Are’? ...

This rumor may just be too good to be true, as The New York Times reported from an anonymous source that today, MTV Games will announce that Rock Band 2 will feature Axel Rose and company's 10 year in the making Chinese Democracy album. Don't throw your horns just yet, as Chinese Democracy doesn't even have a release date on its own. However, "Shackler's Revenge", one of the songs from the upcoming album, is said to be part of Rock Band 2's track list when it releases this fall. We can't help but imagine the intensity of hearing a brand new Guns N' Roses album and playing it at the same time. Rock Band 2 will be initially exclusive for the Xbox 360, so stay tuned in a few hours for our live streaming of Microsoft's press conference . Filed under: News , E3 , Rumors The New York Times is reporting that, according to an anonymous source, tomorrow MTV Games will announce that a track from Guns N' Roses' ten year album in the making Chinese Democracy will be included on Rock Band 2 's setlist. No joke! The track "Shackler's Revenge" is the song that's said to be a part of the game's setlist which releases later this Fall. Funny thing is, their album Chinese Democracy doesn't even have an official release date and is one of the most anticipated album releases ever. So, if this Rock Band 2 rumor ends up being true, this could also be proof that Axel and his jumbilation of a band could finally be releasing their album after nearly a decade in the making. We can't wait to hear what MTV and Harmonix have to announce tomorrow. [Thanks, Willenholly]   Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments ...

Last night I got a tip about a video purporting to be footage of someone who works for Rock Band maker Harmonix talking about Chinese Democracy "off the record" at the E3 conference; during the chat, he made outsized claims like a) the album is not only coming out this year, it's going to be made up of not one, but four (?!) CDs; and b) September's Video Music Awards are going to go the big Axl appearance route again , what with MTV being part of the braintrust behind the game. Whether this is at all true, or merely a disinformation campaign that doubles as a shrewd way for the Harmonix employee to punk the "innocent" interviewer who was clearly not turning off his camera during the Axl-sensitive portion of the interview, is for you to figure out, although I think it's somewhat sweet that YouTube's commenting hordes are calling for the clip to be taken down so the dude can keep his job. Video after the jump. What more is there to say, except "here's hoping Sebastian Bach weighs in on all these rumors soon." Sigh. Shackler info [YouTube] ...

Now that's more like it, Axl! After last month's Chinese Democracy -leak scandal , Guns N' Roses have apparently decided to tease their evidently forthcoming new album by including a track on this fall's Rock Band 2. While some are already insisting that this doesn't mean Chinese Democracy will actually be released this year, after 14 years in the works, we think the album might really be coming out in the not-too-distant future-if only to stop people from asking about it. NYT : A decade and a half after releasing its previous album, Guns N' Roses plans to put out a new song in September - on the video game Rock Band 2. MTV expects to announce on Monday that the sequel to its popular Rock Band game will include 'Shackler's Revenge,' a track from the Guns N' Roses album that has been in the works for more than a decade, said people familiar with the deal who spoke on condition of anonymity because the arrangement has yet to be announced. The inclusion of the song on a game suggests that the Guns N' Roses album 'Chinese Democracy' will come out this fall, after years of delays. Axl Rose, who has selected replacements for the other original members, has said that the album is finished, but a release date has not been announced. EW.com , meanwhile, obtained a copy of the Rock Band 2 song list, and, yep, "Shackler's Revenge" is on it. This also marks the third major event in Guns N' Roses history that Axl has used MTV to announce. Fir ...
