A biblical drama was being played out on the streets of Sydney. Pilgrims for Catholic World Youth Day are once again crowding into the city, but today the young are witnessing a very old ritual. The Stations of the Cross re-enacts the final days of the life of Jesus. Pilgrims have taken part in the ritual since the 13th century, but it seems to be having a revival at this year's World Youth Day celebrations, as Paula Kruger reports. ...

Boston, the AP : “An activist group hoping to pressure the Roman Catholic church into dropping its long-standing prohibition barring women from the priesthood says it ordained three women on Sunday. Church officials did not recognize the ordination, and the Vatican has previously warned that women taking part in ordination ceremonies will be excommunicated.” I knew one of the first women to do this in Ohio in 2002. We went to the same church in Philadelphia. She was a bit of an, ahem, eccentric. She clearly had “issues” beyond the women priest stuff. My wife and I saw her recently at Mass. Now excommunicated, she was in the pews, but mimmicked everything the priest did during Mass. I will guess these Boston womyn are not much different. ...

by dubsthcentralboy (Posted Yesterday, 9:14 pm) In Australia, where hundreds of thousands of young Catholics are attending World Youth Day, militant gay activists have attacked Catholic teenagers and pelted them with condoms. Chanting "Pope go homo, gay is great" and singing "Pope is wrong, put a condom on", the protesters threw condoms at the pilgrims, who were making their way to Randwick racecourse for an overnight prayer vigil culminating in the closing Mass. A drag queen dressed in pink going under the moniker "Pope Alice" also paraded before the pilgrims, while other protesters wore T-shirts with slogans such as "Thank God I'm an atheist" and "Bless me father for I am a homo". According to medial reports, the pilgrims appeared unfazed by the protest, with some making peace signs as they passed by. What disgusting behaviour from these gay people. They may have legitimate concerns about the Catholic Church's teaching. However, assaulting teeangers in this fashion is disgusting and should be condemned by all right-thinking people. Will it be? href="http://www.politics.ie/viewtopic.php?f=88&t=38778"> ...

Sometimes, Freud told us, a cigar is just a cigar. Sometimes, though, it’s a cracker. Earlier this month, it a University of Central Florida student: Webster Cook says that, instead... ...
