At the Weatherford Farmers Market (which is more of a public market, given its many grocery-store-type imports like cherries and mangos), I found Parker County peaches yesterday. They were a nice size, smelled good, but were not quite ripe. I'm doing the window-sill routine (leaving them out a few days so they lose their green under-color and turn yellow or orange). 'Also got a local Cantaloupe so fragrant (before being cut) that it perfumed the whole car. Catch the market and some cooling shaved ice on your way to points west, like Lake Possum Kingdom. The market is on the Fort Worth Highway two blocks east of the town square. ... Source: www.jorbins.com --- 5 days ago

these have all been added to my garden...in less than 24 hours. i've lost my mind. no truly... i went out yesterday to pick up one plant. one. i was suppose to just be picking up the Cantaloupe we forgot. at home depot...i ended up with: 1. Cantaloupe 2. some random variety of beans 3. butternut squash 4. thompson seedless grapes after getting these...i told the kids..."isn't there a nursery on sunnymead" as if they knew. "let's go check it out." oh my holy land! i could of fell out right there on the gravel paths meandering through the large nursery (that seems so small and unassuming from the busy street). no i'm not kidding. i could of laid my hot, hungry self right out in the middle of their gravel laden paths. i was instantly greeted by the nicest young guy...and upon asking if they had veggies and "stuff" and taking advantage of his friendliness with hordes of questions he smiled and lead me to their organic veggie/fruit/herb garden. holy baby jesus! i needed a moment...and i told him that, after asking if i could hug him. this garden...small and compact and filled to the brim...in every square 1/4" of space was busting at the seams with every darn veggie and fruit i could conjure up! i started testing him...you don't got...beans...right there. what about corn...in the back...strawberries...along the ground in front...and then i started noticing things...artichokes, grapes...cabbage...well i noticed the cabbage right away. i ain't ...
