There is much to say about the recently concluded Forbes Global CEO Conference in Singapore. But not today--sorry. The plane back to San Francisco is departing. I'll sum up the conference when I have more time, perhaps tomorrow. For today,... ... Source: blog.beliefnet.com --- 28 days ago
Where would we be without Camille Paglia? Well, we'd be without someone who'd write sentences like this: Now that's the Sarah Palin brand of can-do, no-excuses, moose-hunting feminism -- a world away from the whining, sniping, wearily ironic mode of... ... Source: www.britannica.com --- 20 days ago
Sarah Palin has made "the biggest step forward in feminism since Madonna," or at least she has in the eyes of "dissident feminist" Camille Paglia. Andrew Sullivan couldn't disagree more. So rage "The Palin Wars," onging as we speak ... ... Source: blog.indecision2008.com --- 27 days ago
And she will express that opinion with a semi-automatic metaphor gun... Rip tide! Is the Obama campaign shooting out to sea like a paper boat? It's heavy weather for Obama fans, as momentum has suddenly shifted to John McCain -- that hoary, barnacle-encrusted tub that many Democrats like me had thought was full of holes and swirling [...] ... Today during lunch I had a conversation with a dear co-worker from the glorious nation of Kazakhstan, unlike Borat (below), she is actually from there. She is a very kind hearted, elegant woman who is always good for a chat. The topic of Sarah Palin arose and my co-worker expressed her dislike for Mrs. Palin. [...] ... This is the sanest thing I've read since the Sarah Palin announcement. At this point, Obama has my vote, but I can completely identify with and respect Sarah Palin. Salon.com | Fresh blood for the vampire. I probably wouldn’t normally agree or even read the writings of a self proclaimed feminist, but her insights into the current election and Democrats are interesting. The only really wacky thing she goes into is her belief that abortion is our way of defying “nature’s fascism”. Tagged with: election, Palin ... Source: www.thunderstruck.org --- 10 days ago

Only Camille Paglia could write these two passages in the same essay and somehow think they’re compatible: I am still waiting for substantive evidence that Sarah Palin is a dangerous extremist. I am perfectly willing to be convinced, but right now, she seems to be merely an optimistic pragmatist like Ronald Reagan, someone who pays lip [...] ... In her latest column at Salon the always provocative and entertaining Camille Paglia manages to trash John McCain, ridicule Barack Obama, and raise Sarah Palin to near iconic stature as the embodiment of future woman. She uses vignettes of strong women from her own family and from American history to bolster her thesis that Palin [...] ... Source: jackanapes.stumbleupon.com --- 25 days ago

(Tim, w/thanks to David) Other than the obvious, there's little to disagree with in this splendid essay, " Fresh Blood for the Vampire ," by feminists' bete noire , Camille Paglia. Here are a few teasers to whet your appetite: * * * We need a new generation of leadership with fresh ideas and an expansive, cosmopolitan vision -- which is why I support Barack Obama and have contributed to his campaign. My baby-boom generation -- typified by the narcissistic Clintons -- peaked in the 1960s and is seriously past it. But McCain, born before Pearl Harbor, is even older than we are! Why would anyone believe that he holds the key to the future? And why would anyone swallow that preening passel of high-flown rhetoric about "country above all" coming from a seething, short-fused character whose rampant egotism, zigzagging principles, and currying of the gullible press were the distinguishing marks of his senatorial career? Having said that, I must admit that McCain is currently eating Obama's lunch... McCain's weirdly disconnected persona (beady glowers flashing to frozen grins and back again) has started to look more testosterone-rich than Obama's easy, lanky, reflective candor. What in the world possessed the Obama campaign to let their guy wander like a dazed lamb into a snake pit of religious inquisition like Rick Warren's public forum last month at his Saddleback Church in California? * * * Conservative though she may be, I felt that Palin ... Sounds like self-described “dissident feminist” Camille Paglia, who supports Barack Obama and called for an Obama-Sebelius ticket, has had quite enough of the liberal assault on GOP running mate Sarah Palin: “A feminism that cannot admire the bravura under high pressure of the first woman governor of a frontier state isn’t worth a warm [...] ...
