Hello, When I receive a call, the phone reports a time that is roughly 5 hours earlier than my real time. Where can I change/fix that? It doesn't help that the QuantumVoice website reports call logs with UTC time, which I believe is 5 hours ahead of my east coast time. ... Source: www.dslreports.com --- 35 days ago

I would assume that anyone who uses Asterisk knows how easy it is to spoof a Caller Id. Some cell phone companies now have their network set up so if a call did not originate from their network, you have to enter a PIN in order to access your voicemail. But, how does Rebtel do it? It used to be very easy to register a fake number, spoof that number and then make free international long distance calls using their network. Rebtel seem to have successfully implemented a system that is now able to detect spoofed Caller ids and will prompt the user for a PIN. I would love to implement such a solution on my system. My attempts to block spoofed Caller IDs have so far failed and I am really curious to know how those guys managed to get it right. Any suggestions? ... Source: www.dslreports.com --- 4 days ago

I just received a post card in the mail from Cox stating Onscreen Caller Id is now available here in Norman and by god it is. You need to go into iTV using the Menu button and enable the feature via the Phone Tools menu. You can select how long the notification is onscreen and the placement. -- "When all else fails, read the instructions..." MS-MVP Windows Desktop User Experience ... No, this is not a question regarding the Caller Id function on the receiver but a question as to why DirecTV doesn't use their own name when they call to confirm an appointment? I'd like it to go back to the way it was for years. . . showing the persons name and telephone number that was calling. . . now I get unavailable. . . no name . . . sometimes no number. . . some times number. . . all from the same Caller. On the out bound Caller Id most of the time it says Vonage Holdings. . . or unavailable and people will not pick up my calls. .. not even my parents. . . who still want to talk to me. . . they won't pick up calls from people they do not know they are very old. They call me because they need help. . . and I call them back and they won't pick up the phone. I have worked with advance tech support. . . some of them are telling me that yes Vonage can fix this if they wanted to by contacting xo. . but they won't. . . and I can't seem to call xo myself. I am open to any suggestions. Then their are my clients that won't pick up my calls. .. and calls that I'd like to know it's my clients calling me . . . it's just a big mess. Something interesting else that I found out about. . . I am abroad right now. . . and I didn't have a Caller Id phone here with me. .. so i loaded vonage talk. . . but still pick up the phone .. . .well the Caller Id is different again. . ... Vonage does not populate the customers name in their carriers and CNAM providers database. This means when your number is passed through SS7, the receiving carrier dips into their CNAM databse and is unable to reference a name for the calling number. Industry standard for numbers that do not have names in a CNAM database is for the receiving carrier to post something for name. In most cases, the receiving carrier will use Unavailable, Unknown, or the City/State of the rate center / market the calling number is from. All of these are acceptable. It may also replace the name if no name is passed with the phone number which is why it displays on both lines of the CID display. When Bell, Verizon, ATT, etc... were the only choice, there were less CNAM issues. Now that there is choice, anytime you switch from one provider to another, does not matter VoIP or not, chances are there will be some differences in the way both Inbound and Outbound CID displays due to the use of different CNAM databse providers. Some providers will even cache CNAM so it may not have the most up to date records. ... Source: www.vonage-forum.com --- 36 days ago
I too, have had intermittent CID displays ever since changing my Vonage adapter about a year ago. Dashboard always was good, but at least half the time CID did not display on phones. I knew phones were ok since CID was fine with earlier Vonage adapter. So I called customer service and first they tried to change the waveform setting. That did not work. Next I asked them to downgrade my 1.22.22 firmware and now that I have 1.00.16, CID has been solid for the last month. ... Source: www.vonage-forum.com --- 15 days ago
