Hello, I recently ordered a Self Install Dry Loop kit from ATT's website. It arrived promptly and the activation date had commenced 3 days prior to receiving the package. Now onto the problem: 1.) I live in a very old apartment that has several units and buildings adjacent to each other. I was qualified via ATT's website when entering my address and even Apartment Unit. I am assuming that is to see if there is a history of POTS installations on site for my unit. 2.) There are 3 jacks in my tiny studio apartment. 1 is dead the other very old and the newest one directly leads outside my back door into the basement. It is a brand new line. None of these jacks offered sync for my Motorola DSL Modem. 3.) Being somewhat familiar with Telco hardware I went downstairs and to my horror found an ancient ceramic splitter/NID in the basement. (Pictures hopefully to come soon) The new line that was dropped from my back door was led to it, but was dangling free on the floor. As the there are NO marking on the splitter/NID other than Technician tags I knew I was in trouble. 4.) I brought the DSL Modem downstairs, used an older RJ45 plug and ran the green and red pair over the screwjacks line by line hoping to find a sync. I DID find several syncs, however they all had fresh loops on them, so I assumed that they were for other customers that have DSL. Now from what I have been told, I will have to pay $200 to have a technician come here to sort the N ... Source: www.suntimes.com --- 1 hour ago

The CHICAGO Tribune reports that the Windy City's superintendent is asking the board of education there to sign off on the creation of a high school for gay, lesbian and transgendered teens. The article says the Pride Campus "would incorporate lessons about sexual identity in literature and history classes and offer counseling." The school proposal comes as a new study confirms the rampant harassment of gay students in the nation's middle and high schools. The Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network says nearly nine in 10 of the 6,209 students it surveyed say they've been harassed in the past year. This leads to truancy, as gay students don't feel safe coming to school. And understandably, fears are heightened in the wake of the Larry King tragedy this year in California. But is creating a separate school the answer? Or, as some gay-rights activists suggest in the article, should existing schools be working harder to foster acceptance? After all, children make fun of each other all the time for all kinds of reasons: because of the color of their skin or the religion they practice, because their families are poor, because they have a disability. The Pride school would not be allowed to ask prospective students their sexual orientation (presumably, they would self-select). But it's hard to imagine the creation of a school designed to prevent any other minority group from being teased. ... Source: activerain.com --- 5 hours ago
How ya doing? Here is our Team Member Jennifer Arcand , and her take on news from our Lincoln Park, Uptown, Logan Square and West Rogers Park CHICAGO Neighborhoods , and our Western CHICAGO Suburb of Oak Park IL, for this week: LINCOLN PARK, UPTOWN, LOGAN SQUARE If you're most people, you practically live in your car. You eat, drink, groom yourself, and use it for storage. Keeping your second home clean is getting very costly. Here are a few suggestions for cutting corners. Start with a no-frills exterior car wash. Most places charge about $8-$10, however, Lincoln Park's White Glove (1415 W. Shakespeare Ave.; 773-404-7300), a spray-wax job bumps the final bill up to $21.99. Throw in detailing, and that can run up to $99.00. People can and do pay that much, sometimes weekly according to White Glove manager Edgar Hernandez of eight years. "Most customers come here at least twice a month," he says. It's a good habit, but for $99.00? It's certainly not for everybody. Why not save your money and do it yourself. Just a bucket of mild soapy water, a sponge and/or, and a hose will do it, weather permitting. If you are pressed for time, try these alternatives: Do an exterior wash at a basic drive-through. Chicagoland's #1 Car Wash in Uptown (4900 N. Broadway, 773-784-9002), charges only $3.75 for a regular wash. The Logan Square Citgo (2338 N. Sacramento Ave., 773-342-0318) is even less expensive. Washes here start at just $3. Wax ... Source: blog.cmt.com --- 6 hours ago

The Falcons, like the Bears, are a tough team to get a grip on. They’ve beaten the Lions, Chiefs, and Packers and have lost to TB and Carolina . But, the difference is that their losses to TB and Carolina have been blowouts, not close games like ours were. Us vs. Them – Defense No secret about Matt Ryan and Michael Turner. Ryan’s been consistently throwing in the 150 – 200 yard range and Turner (when on) has been running all over the place. But, there’s a problem with their offense. When Turner has been held under 100 yards, they’ve gotten blown out. In other words, when a team makes Ryan do all the work, they lose. Badly. So, if we key in stopping Turner and not focus solely on getting to Ryan, history states we’ll win. Problem is, that history is only five games long. Besides those two, their top receiver is Roddy White (26 receptions for 454 yards and 2 TD’s). Two other receiver’s names you might hear on Sunday are Michael Jenkins and Jerious Norwood. Us vs. Them – Offense Same old story, different game: We need to establish the run. If we can establish the run and take some pressure off Orton, we will be successful. If Orton has to do all the work, we might run into trouble. The Falcons like to use their front four to disrupt/stop the run and the back seven to drop back. I really hope they use this strategy on Sunday, because Forte will throw them for a loop. I also hope that our OL is planning on playing well, be ... Source: www.mediageek.net --- 6 hours ago
