Totally unfamiliar with BA products, I'm trying to push my father onto WT+ to CCU mainly as the only other option is Air India, which is cheaper. He is NOT a BA fan by any means, but being 80 odd I'm trying to get him to be a little more comfortable, which is proving tricky! I see the flight to CCU is on a 777, so I'm assuming there isn't much difference between B D G or J rows? I also notice that there isn't a priority checkin for WT+ though hopefully I'll be there to print out his boarding pass etc. Is the meal any different to the standard WT meal (this is one of the things he mentioned as being 'absolutely disgusting' on his last trip!) And finally, in generall % wise are loads in WT+ generally equal to WT? He's constantly changing his dates and is worried that he'll have problems coming back since there are fewer seats. TIA! ... Coastal Carolina received a healthy Academic Progress Rate report card Tuesday. Only one Chanticleer athletic program, the men's outdoor track team, received a scholarship-reduction penalty as a result of the fourth APR report conducted by the NCAA. In men's basketball and football, Coastal remained as the top-scoring school in the Big South. ``I'm pleased that our people are doing what they have to do,'' CCU athletics director Warren ``Moose'' Koegel said. ``We have a couple sports that need to improve.'' Outside of men's track (903), base ball (917) and men' soccer (906) every CCU athletic team scored above the Coastal baseball scored an 882 in 2003, while the soccer team posted an 833. Both sports were hurt by transfers, which count against the graduation rate. Since base ball and track offer partial scholarships there is less incen tive to remain with a program. ``The first year [of APR], no one knew what was going on,'' Mazurkiewicz said. ``[APR] changed the culture of how people think about things, recruiting ... keeping kids eligible.'' Waivers must be supplied for players like Jerome Simpson, who didn't complete his degree at Coastal to prepare for the NFL Draft. However, since Simpson was an eligible athlete who was drafted he should not damage the football APR next season, accord ing to Mazurkiewicz. Women's tennis (991) was near perfect on the 0-1,000 point scale. Men's golf (978), men's ... Source: www.myrtlebeachonline.com --- 5 days ago

Every year, the trash bin behind Coastal Carolina University's dorms fills up during move-out days with unwanted clothes, small furniture and other items students can't fit in their cars or they just don't want. This year, economics professor Robert Salvino and the economics club at CCU are trying to find a better place for those items than the trash. "Another professor approached me after he noticed how much stuff was going into that Dumpster and we thought, 'Man there could be something better done,'" Salvino said. "I started mentioning it to classes this fall. A few of them just decided they could make it happen." ... Source: www.myrtlebeachonline.com --- 11 days ago

They will graduate together Saturday - along with 860 students of all ages from across the country and around the world - as CCU President David DeCenzo's presides over his first spring graduation since taking office last year. Administrators at Coastal Carolina University are still hoping for a public-private funding partnership to pay for a new arena, but with the clock ticking the university is keeping its options open. The Coastal Education Foundation Buildings/Grounds and Land Use committee is scheduled to hear a proposal for the new arena at its meeting today, but Stan Godshall, executive director of the foundation, said that the discussion could occur in a closed session. "As of right now, a vote isn't scheduled to take place. It is part of an ongoing discussion," Godshall said late last week. ... Source: www.myrtlebeachonline.com --- 24 days ago
It was not until the waning moments Friday that activity began to stir in the bullpens at Watson Stadium. When reserve catchers and relief arms began to scurry to the warm-up areas in the seventh inning, it was induced by pitch counts, not panic. In one of the top pitching match- ups of the Big South season, UNC Asheville's Alan DeRatt and Coastal Carolina's Bobby Gagg faced off, pounding the strike zone inning after inning. Neither figured in the decision of Coastal's 4-3 win, but each offered eight quality innings of work as the Chanticleers extended their winning streak to seven games. DeRatt entered with a nation-best 0.64 ERA and has six of Asheville's 16 wins. Gagg has done little to tarnish his preseason All-American honors with a 5-1 mark and 2.31 ERA. It was a game that marked growth for Gagg, who allowed eight hits, three runs and seven strikeouts while not walking a batter. In a match-up against New York Yankees first-round pick Andrew Brack man and N.C. State last season, Gagg tried to match Brackman's high-velocity fastball, and got himself into trouble by overthrowing. ``I have to be myself,'' said Gagg, who pitched with a blister he developed on his throwing hand Friday. ``DeRatt is not in their lineup.'' Although DeRatt's Asheville team has struggled this season (16-25, 2-8) when he pitches _ he threw 78 of his 128 pitches for strikes _ he offered the Chants (31-7, 8-2) a region ...
