The Financial Services Authority reported a 40-per-cent surge in home repossessions in the first quarter of 2008 to 9,152 as borrowers failed to repay their home loans. In the services sector, the Chartered Institute for Purchasing and Supply said that its index of sector activity was 47.4 in July.
