Brett Favre looked like a 38-year-old quarterback wearing pads for the first time since the NFC Championship Game in January and who had pretty much rolled out of bed, out of retirement and onto the practice field not knowing a soul. ... Source: www.nydailynews.com --- 20 days ago
As Brett Favre said Friday at City Hall, "The future is now." How much is Favre worth to the Jets? Three extra victories. He will get them to 10 wins and a wild card. Forget about catching the Patriots. ... Source: www.nydailynews.com --- 9 days ago
Brett Favre will never face a bigger moment against the Giants than he did in January as a Packer. Now he faces them again Saturday in a Jets uniform, but it's just a preseason game with no chance at redemption at his overtime interception. ... Source: www.nydailynews.com --- 22 days ago
It was a terrific move for the Jets, one they had to make. It makes them important again in a town where they have never been more entrenched as second-class citizens. Trading for Favre puts the Jets into an unquestionable win-now mode. ... Source: slam.canoe.ca --- 19 days ago

ALLENTOWN - Welcome to the strangest minor-league rehabilitation assignment in recent memory. That's what this is for Brett Myers, after all. It's as if the Phillies got an MRI of his psyche, saw a second-degree strain in his S.C. (self-confidence) ligament, and sent him to triple A to pitch his way back into shape. ... Brett Myers was Dontrelle’d yesterday, sent down to AAA Lehigh Valley to get his once respectable s**t in a pile. Hey, the Indians demoted a struggling Cliff Lee last season, and the dude is all-world this season. So what do the Phillies and Myers have to lose here? Absolutely nothing. This was ... ... Brett Myers has accepted an assignment to AAA Lehigh Valley to try to get his career back on track. He’ll start for Lehigh Valley on Wednesday in Allentown against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Pat Gillick said the team hadn’t decided who would take Myers’ turn in the rotation against Atlanta on Thursday, but told Comcast SportsNet that reliever Chad Durbin was staying put in the bullpen. More on this situation as it develops. ... Source: www.yardbarker.com --- 59 days ago
Shocking. The Phillies Opening Day starter, Brett Myers , has agreed to be sent down to Triple A Lehigh Valley where he will pitch for them on Wednesday. Myers could have refused the assignment, but it sounds like he agreed with the Phillies that he needed to re-gain his confidence in the minors. Myers was scheduled to start for the Phillies on Thursday so the Phils will have to look for another option that day. With the day off yesterday, they could simply move everyone up a day and the starters would still have their normal rest. Myers has been nothing short of terrible this season, putting up bad start after bad start. Let's hope he gets his confidence back in the minors because the Phillies desperately need a second starter to step up behind Cole Hamels . Since the Phightin' Phils were just in town and there was some good vitriol directed at Brett Myers here on LSB, I thought it would be relevant to share this : If you've had a bad day, then maybe you'll feel better by reading about Brett Myers. According to MLB.com , the Phillies optioned the struggling righthander to Triple-A Lehigh Valley. Because he has five-plus years in the majors, Myers had the option to reject the demotion. But he accepted it and hopes to get back on track after starting the season 3-9 with a 5.84 ERA. I didn't realize that he was leading the majors with 24 HR allowed. I was at the game on Friday night and I was shocked to see how off he was from the Brett Myers we've seen in the past. I remember he used to have filthy stuff on his fastball, a powerful slider and a nasty little curve to round out the arsenal. During his time pitching last Friday, I don't think he ever broke 92 on the Ballpark's radar gun. He worked most of the time in the 87-90 range. And he's definitely a disciple of the David Wells school of physical fitness. Dude's getting big. ...

Brett Myers has been a completely different pitcher since returning from the minors. He is mowing down the opposition like he was a John Deere tractor. I wish he had pitched this way all season, but I'm not going to get greedy, I'm damn glad he's pitching this well now.
