Nickelodeon has announced two new animated series and the second season of The Mighty B! Fanboy and Chum Chum will be a CGI animated series spun off from Nickelodeon's Random! Cartoons series, focusing on the 10-year old comic-book loving Fanboy and his friend and sidekick Chum Chum. The series was created by Eric Robles ( Ni Hao, Kai-lan , The Xs , Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy ) and will be executive produced by Robles, Steve Tompkins, and Fred Seibert. The first season will consist of 26 episodes. It has no premiere date scheduled. Nick Jr. has also begun production on Team Umizoomi , a math-based series that will combine 2D and 3D animation with live-action footage to create its unique urban environment of Umi City. The series leads Milli and Geo are siblings who team up with their robot best friend Bot to help the pre-schoolers of Umi City solve problems using math. The series was created by a trio of veterans from Blue's Clues : Jennifer Twomey (Co-Creator/Executive Producer), Soo Kim (Co-Creator/Producer/Design Director/Writer) and Michael T. Smith (Co-Creator/Producer/Writer). The series is scheduled to premiere in 2009. Nickelodeon has also announced that The Mighty B! has been renewed for a second season of 20 episodes. We should all applaud Maria Anna Tappeiner for realizing a film on Richard Serra that reaches for themes beyond the Titled Arc. Retelling that story of ostensible government censorship and an artist clamoring for his right to expression is beating a dead horse. Tappeiner digs deeper and has forever enriched the Serra archive by presenting a vivid glimpse into the personality behind these important works. The opening scene depicts the artist wandering through his sculpture park at the Bilbao Guggenheim. His crumpled linen sports jacket, simple blue jeans, and butch stride reveal his salt of the earth persona. He speaks about how his undulating slabs of steel create voids. In a style reminiscent of Hitchcock giving you Clues about a film you haven't yet watched, he throws in your face that you don't get his work or jargon ...
Scientists at the University of York have discovered a “Chemical Equator” that divides the polluted air of the Northern Hemisphere from the largely uncontaminated atmosphere of the Southern Hemisphere. Researchers from the University’s Department of Chemistry found evidence for an atmospheric chemical equator around 50 km wide in cloudless skies in the Western Pacific. Their findings show for the first time that the chemical and meteorological boundaries between the two air masses are not necessarily the same. The discovery will provide important Clues to help scientists to model simulations of the movement of pollutants in the atmosphere more accurately, and to assess the impact of pollution on climate. The study is part of the ACTIVE project (Aerosol and Chemical Transport in Tropical Convection) funded by the UK’s Natural Environment Research Council. Previously, scientists believed that the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) formed the boundary between the polluted air of the Northern Hemisphere and the cleaner air of the Southern Hemisphere.
