If Barack Obama, with his pedigree, were a white man, he would coast to a landslide victory in November, regardless of his running mate, or John McCain's. It is not an overstatement to say that the United States of America is at a seminal moment in its history. Joe Biden declared on his first day as Barack Obama's vice presidential running mate, as he stood onstage at the Old State House in Springfield, Illinois, "The reckoning is now." This, at the very place where Obama first announced his historic run for President and where, then U. S. It has been called by some "the speech that changed the world." It was a speech for the ages, delivered by a man for the ages, at yet another critical juncture in our body politic. Fast forward 150 years to August 28, 2008 to Denver's Mile High Stadium, and Barack Obama of Illinois, this generation's man for the ages, delivered his "Enough" speech, formally accepting the nomination for the office of the American presidency. In his address, which will no doubt also take its place among the great political speeches in American history, he declared, "Something is stirring." What an understatement. There is an element of buoyant hope in the air that is both fueled and tempered by ra ... Source: blackvoices.aol.com --- 23 days ago
