The Belmont High girls soccer team scored two goals in the final 18 minutes of the game to earn a 2-2 tie with Lexington on Thursday night in Lexington.     The Minutemen led 1-0 at halftime and took a 2-0 lead early in the second half before the Marauders came storming back.     With 18 minutes left, Julie Pomponi hit the crossbar with a shot, the second crossbar struck by a BHS shot on the night, but Marisa DiCeinzo was able to track down the rebound and cut the Lexington lead to 2-1.     Five minutes later, a handball in the goal area by the Minutemen led to a Belmont penalty kick.     Lexington keeper Jill Carlson stopped Claire Mackecicius’ initial shot, but Mackecicius drove in the rebound to tie the game with 13:08 to go.     Belmont controlled much of the second half.     In the first 10 minutes, the Marauders had three quality scoring chances as Rebecca Russo’s shot sailed just wide, Mackecicius hit the crossbar and Carlson added a nice stop on another bid by Mackecicius.     After surviving the onslaught, Lexington increased its lead when Erika Chang knocked in a pass by Nandi Mehta with 24:18 left to play. On Monday, the Marauder boys soccer team earned their second victory of the season, defeating Watertown by the score of 1-0. The game’s lone goal was scored by Belmont’s Thomas Herron. Picking up the assist on the play was teammate Justin Bertolami. “Our team showed great improvement in ball movement and really showed the will to win,” said Marauder coach Peter Guellnitz. “Both teams really played a great game.” With the win, Belmont improved its season mark to 2-4-2.   ...

The Lexington High football team fell behind early and couldn't recover on Friday night in a 28-13 loss to Belmont at Belmont High School. Two first-quarter turnovers led to a pair of Marauder touchdowns, putting the Minutemen in a 14-0 hole. A 42-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Miles Hadley to receiver John Moscatel cut the lead in half with 10:50 left in the first half, but Belmont would bring a 21-7 lead into halftime.
