I have moved over from D-LINK to a Belkin router as my other router has gone away to be repaired ( about 28 days they say ) so i went out and purchased a N1 vision router to connect to our 20Mb virgin broadband line. We have several pieces of kit connected wirelessly and i followed the set up provided by the wizard, i also used my drive pen to install the security on all the other pc's. The whole process went like a dream, but we are having a problem with internet disconnecting itself to wireless devices. it seemed that the other router did the same thing (amongs't other things). Hello, I have virgin media cable internet in my living room and a DVR (records CCTV footage) in my bedroom. The DVR has a built in web server which allows me to view my CCTV recording from anywhere on the net. To get this to work i have to be able to connect the DVR to the cable internet connection and configure some NAT. Therefore i went out and brought a Belkin Wireless G router + Belkin Gaming Adapter (model below) I attached the router to the cable modem and then used my wireless enabled laptop to confirm the wireless router is working all OK. I also enabled WPA (TKIP) encryption on the router. All worked OK. I then went to my bedroom and configured the gaming adapter (using desktop) to peer with my secure cable network wireless router downstairs in my living room. This worked fine and my desktop could connect to the internet (I had to assign static ip address and dns to desktop). Looked promising. Then the real crunch, attaching my DVR to the wireless gaming adapter. I configured my DVR with a static ip address and plugged this into the gaming adapter and thats where it all went wrong :-( No wireless "bridge" is formed from the gaming adpater to the Belkin router. The LAN link lights on the gaming adapter and the DVR are lit (solid) however i cannot connect to the DVR from the internet or locally on MY LAN. Firstly let me start of by describing how my internet is set up, what I want to acheive, and the problem. I currently have a BT homehub as my router set upstairs. However this does not have a strong enough signal downstairs for my laptops and playstation 3. Due to the fact that my sisters laptop has vista (which isnt compatible with the extender) I wish to move the router/homehub downstairs (and plug the PS3 directly into this) and have the extender upstairs where the homehub used to be. I have set the extender up with instruction from Belkins call centre. I am getting a full signal from what I can assume is the extender - but its still not connecting to the net. It sometimes automatically switches to connect to the 'weak' signal direct from the router. I imagine that the extender should act as that, not a seperate network. However there seems to be a difference in what im being told im connected to. I get the following: Wireless Network Connection (BT-Homehub-875E)- weak signal, direct to router - internet works or Network Connection 2(BT-Homehub-875E)- stong signal, from extender, however internet doesnt work. Hola a todos, os cuento brevemente la historia. Compramos un router/modem Belkin N hace un mes y medio para la empresa, modelo F5D8633-4. Todo iba bien hasta que descubrimos que al desactivar el modo inalambrico, el router activa un broadcasting de un SSID llamado rt2860ap y totalmente abierto a conexiones externas. Lo que queriamos era aumentar la seguridad permitiendo solo conexiones por cable, según dice la documentación del producto: "3) Desactivado: Este modo desactivará el punto de acceso del router, por lo que no se podrán unir a la red los dispositivos inalámbricos. Desactivar la función inalámbrica de su router es una excelente manera de proteger su red cuando se va a ausentar de casa durante un largo periodo de tiempo, o si no desea utilizar la capacidad inalámbrica del router durante un tiempo determinado." Conseguimos todo lo contrario, que el router abriera todo y con un identificador desconocido por nosotros para no darnos cuenta. Pasado el espanto inicial lo apagamos para evitar más conexiones indeseadas llamamos al número de asistencia de Belkin 902024366, que tras unos 20 minutos de espera nos atendió. La siguiente sorpresa vino cuando tras explicarle el funcionamiento 'traidor' del aparato nos dice que en sus productos inalambricos no se puede desactivar el modo inalambrico, AL CONTRARIO DE LO QUE DICE SU DOCUMENTACION!
