Who will be the villain in the next Batman movie? If you believe the Internet, it’s Angelina Jolie as Catwoman. Or Johnny Depp as The Riddler. And possibly Philip Seymour Hoffman as The Penguin. Well, you shouldn’t necessarily believe everything you read. Last month, before this latest round of casting rumors started, The Dark Knight co-writer David [...] ...

By Andy Hunsaker, Fancast Movies The Dark Knight may soon be the second highest grossing Film of all time, and if Heath Ledger hadn't died, chances are a third Film with more Joker hijinks would have been a foregone conclusion. Without him, though, there can be no more Joker in Christopher Nolan's Gotham City. Which leaves the burning question of "where to go from here?" Nerds on the internet are already hotly debating this topic, including a cool thread at the Something Awful forums about photoshopping their casting choices into interesting versions of Batman villains - currently in the lead are Crispin Glover or Michael C. Hall as the RIddler, although there's a contingent who thinks it would be brilliant to bring Jim Carrey back on to do a radically different and darker take on the same character he played in Joel Schumacher's unpleasant Batman Forever . There are also those who don't believe Aaron Eckhart's Two-Face is completely out of the picture, either. Then, of course, there's the rumor that ex-Catwoman Julie Newmar started about the notion that Angelina Jolie has actually inquired about playing Selina Kyle in a third installment of this current Batman series. This would easily be a wet dream for Warner Bros. if they could swing it (as well as for at least half the audience). The path is clear now for a female-driven Batman Film, and Catwoman and, say, Poison Ivy as an environmental terrorist and serial killer with an agenda, ...

I was in the car when word of Morgan Freeman’s accident was announced on CNN. I literally held my breath as the reporter relayed the accident details, until she stated Freeman was in serious, but stable condition. Glosslip’s own “k” has some more information about the Oscar winner’s dangerous accident in Mississippi. After the initial shock wore off, and I consoled myself that at least Morgan wasn’t killed (I am a huge Morgan Freeman fan, so this really was upsetting news) it occurred to me this was the third major dark event to hit the stars of the Film. As we all know, the latest Batman Film, The Dark Knight , which has made close to $400M in the three weeks since it opened, features an amazing performance by the late Heath Ledger who died this past January from an accidental prescription drug overdose. Ledger, haunted by his work in the Film, had suffered from chronic insomnia and seemed to be medicating his way through a dark period sparked by his role as the homicidal Joker character. Ledger admitted in interviews that he had tapped into some very disturbing elements of his psyche to play such an intense role. The wake of his death left many unanswered questions and a grieving family to ponder what might have been for the talented star. While many have been drawn to the Film to watch what was Ledger’s final completed project, another brooding character from the Film, British actor Christian Bale resurrected his tortured role as Bat ...

YES, it's Doctor Who actor David Tennant, bringing his manic intensity and keen intellect to the role of the Riddler. Could he be a possibility for the next Batman movie? The Dark Knight is still creating an amazing cinematic impact - but before director Christopher Nolan has even had time to draw breath or take a well-earned rest, talk has turned to the follow-up Film and who might be added to the cast. Warner Bros has confirmed a third instalment and although Nolan has yet to sign on the dotted line, the Bat-chat is well under way over what, and who, the next movie might include. Read on for all the latest ideas and suggestions - and have your say in the Batman Sequel Poll on the right. With Heath Ledger's amazing Joker unlikely to be recast to reappear, and Two Face even less likely to somehow return, other ideas are surfacing. The Dark Knight Film itself offered some possibilities for future characters. Lucius Fox joked that Batman's new armour would fare well against cats (a hint at Catwoman?) while a reporter in the movie was called Michael Engel (which contains the letters of 'enigma' - and E. Nigma is a comicbook alias for Riddler). Additionally, website marketing for the movie included a spoof Gotham Times newspaper letter by Edward Nashton, another comicbook alias for Riddler. In The Dark Knight, we also saw Commissioner Gordon's wife Barbara Gordon and some forums online have suggested she will become Batgirl and that ...
