It says something for the Rangers minor league system and the coaches at Frisco that the Team stayed competitive despite players coming and going throughout the season. Here's the official release from the Team: The Frisco RoughRiders were named the Minor League Team of the Year by Baseball America for the 'Riders' accomplishments over the 2008 campaign. Frisco led all of Double-A with 184 stolen bases on the season and was among the Texas League leaders in batting average (.277), home runs (129), runs (758), doubles (274), and triples (36). The RoughRiders finished the regular season with an 84-56 record, winning both the First and Second Half Championship in the Texas League for the first time in franchise history. Despite falling one game shy of the Texas League Championship, Frisco had one of the best seasons in all of Minor League Baseball led by first year Manager Scott Little. "This past season was a lot of fun because of the caliber of players on our roster," said RoughRiders General Manager & President Scott Sonju. "It is great for our fans to watch these players in Frisco before they ascend to the Major Leagues with the Rangers." Frisco had over 60 different players wear a RoughRiders uniform this season, including 14 players that suited up for both the Rangers and 'Riders. Normal 0 The Littleton Summer Babe Ruth Team won the U16 Division Minuteman Championship by defeating Wellesley 4-0 in the Quarter Finals, Sudbury 5-0 in the Semifinals and a very talented Natick 12-11 for the title. The Team finished the regular season in 1 st place with an impressive record of 14-2-1 over the 2008 season. The championship game was typical of the never say die attitude the Team put forward all year. The first inning started out with a wild one with several errors by the home Team which lead to 5 Natick runs. The Tigers scored 1 run in the bottom of the inning to cut the lead to 4. The second inning pitcher Kyle Macri stuck out the side to keep the game close. Littleton rallied with 3 runs of their own on key hits by Steve Mulone and Tim Byan and walks by Andrew Boone and Jay Whittermore to come within 1 after 2 innings. James Ray kept the Natick offensive off the bases letting in only 1 run over the next 3 innings. Littleton rallied for 2 runs in the third and 5 in the fifth to take a 11- 6 lead into the final inning on key hits by Kyle Macri, Kyle Montemagno (2 doubles), Ian Kirkland, James Ray, Matt Boone (double) , and Sean Parlon. After scoring 5 more runs in the fifth the home Team seemingly had it won 11-6, except they let Natick score five runs in the top of the last inning to tie the game.
