Oh stop! Please!! This stuff is so funny my sides hurt!! Last night at the Republican National Convention, John McCain used the word “fight” more than 40 times in his speech. As an unswerving member of the left wing of the Democratic Party, Sen. Barbara Boxer of California wasn't going to be much impressed with whomever John McCain selected as a running mate. Still, her reaction to the pick of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is noteworthy for its sharpness, especially given Boxer's commitment to feminist causes. Here's Boxer statement: The vice president is a heartbeat away from becoming president, so to choose someone with not one hour’s worth of experience on national issues is a dangerous choice. If John McCain thought that choosing Sarah Palin would attract Hillary Clinton voters, he is badly mistaken. The only similarity between her and Hillary Clinton is that they are both women.  On the issues, they could not be further apart. Sen. McCain had so many other options if he wanted to put a woman on his ticket, such as Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison or Sen. Olympia Snowe -– they would have been an appropriate choice compared to this dangerous choice. In addition, Sarah Palin is under investigation by the Alaska state legislature, which makes this more incomprehensible. Snowe, considered by many in the GOP a RINO -- Republican in Name Only -- never was a vice presidential prospect. Hutchison's name surfaced over the last few days as a strong possibility, but her stance in favor of abortion rights likely made her a non-starter for the McCain camp. -- Don Frederick Sen. I'm Barbara Boxer and thanks to the great people of California who have elected me three times to the Senate, I now chair the Environment and Public Works Committee. When I took the gavel from the former chairman, I told him that "elections have consequences." When we win in November, we'll prove it. Instead of protecting polluters, we'll protect our families. Instead of ignoring the experts, we'll fight global warming. Instead of facing Republican roadblocks, we'll have a Democratic majority large enough to ensure healthy communities. ...

Call this an illustration of the growing technological divide between the parties. Today California Senator Barbara Boxer sent out a fundraising pitch to her supporters asking them to donate to her PAC for a Change. The pitch was complete with a link to video of the Daily Show's Jon Stewart skewering Karl Rove, Bill O'Reilly, and others on their hypocrisy regarding coverage of Governor Sarah Palin's shortcomings. "Jon Stewart's skewering of Rove and O'Reilly is highly entertaining -- but the truth is, for the past 8 years, the radical right-wing has said and done anything to win elections. We can't let them do it again this year!" Boxer explains in the e-mail. "That's why we need to fight back now to get the truth out to the American people -- and to make sure we take back the White House and build on our majorities in Congress this November. That's what PAC for a Change is all about." Meanwhile, if you were confused by the green screen close-up/mansion in the distance photo backdrop that Senator McCain utilized in the first half of his speech yesterday, you weren't alone. Luckily, Talking Points Memo was on the case (h/t Americablog). Turns out the building featured was actually a school: Walter Reed Middle School in North Hollywood. Why feature said school during your big prime time speech before the American people? The best guess anyone has is they meant to feature Walter Reed Army Medical Center, but some RNC or McCain operat ...

Everyone , just everyone from the two campaigns is on at least one of the shows today. Well, there is one notable exception: Sarah Palin. My guess is we'll never, ever see Palin on one of these Sunday shows -- not during this campaign anyway. So, with Obama, Biden and McCain all showing up, there will be some news. The Obama and McCain interviews were pre-recorded and have already started to leak out. It's rare enough that McCain is actually talking to a reporter, but, no surprise, it looks like Scheiffer threw him softballs . The biggest story will continue to be that Sarah Palin isn't qualified to be v.p. If she can't handle Brokaw or Scheiffer or Stephanopoulos or even just the crew at FOX, how the hell will she ever be able to handle Putin? Here's the lineup : ABC's "This Week" — Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama. ___ CBS' "Face the Nation" — Republican presidential nominee John McCain. ___ NBC's "Meet the Press" — Democratic vice presidential nominee Joe Biden. ___ CNN's "Late Edition" — Sens. Jon Kyl, R-Ariz., Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., Kay Bailey Hutchison, R-Texas; Gov. Tim Kaine, D-Va.; Obama campaign adviser Robert Gibbs; McCain economic adviser Nancy Pfotenhauer. "Fox News Sunday" _ Obama chief strategist David Axelrod and McCain campaign manager Rick Davis. If you're watching, provide the commentary. ...
