Hold this rattlesnake and speak in tongues... Lay on your back and go into inexplicable convulsions... That is what Liberals are these days... Hate Satan and talk about him all the time without really doing a damn thing... Most people I know don't go to Church anymore because it is so political you have to be a hypocrite to sit through an hour... If hypocrites could hear themselves, they would surely STFU... Unfortunately, just like rattlesnakes are real, some Liberals start believing their own jibber-jabber... They not only speak in tongues, they listen in tongues... No doubt many faith-based groups are gearing up. Click here for a Baptist Press story, and keep reading below for a release from the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship: CBF readies disaster response as U.S. Gulf Coast braces for Hurricane Gustav By Carla Wynn Davis CBF Communications ATLANTA. - As Hurricane Gustav heads toward the U.S. Gulf Coast, the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship is preparing its response to what could be the first major hurricane to hit the region since Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Charles Ray, the Fellowship's disaster response coordinator, said it's important to remember that the Fellowship specializes in rebuilding efforts - not first response or search and rescue efforts. After the storm, Ray and other CBF personnel will assess the needs, determine how the Fellowship can best respond, and then communicate what Fellowship Baptists can do to help. "We will respond [with teams on the ground] when it's safe and the affected states give us permission," said Ray, who will be in close communication with state officials and the local branches of the National Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD). When given clearance to begin on-site relief efforts, the Fellowship will work alongside its disaster relief partners, sharing equipment, resources and "often following their lead when they are more qualified or better equipped," Ray said. Though there may be opportunities for CBF responders to engage in immediate d ... Source: religionblog.dallasnews.com --- 19 days ago

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Research from two studies by LifeWay Research indicates a disconnect between Southern Baptist pastors' view of scripture and those of the people in their pews. The research arm of LifeWay Christian Resources of the Southern Baptist Convention conducted one study this spring among a representative sample of 778 Southern Baptist pastors. A second study, in 2007, surveyed 2,500 adults who attend a Protestant church at least once a month, including 260 who attend Southern Baptist churches. Southern Baptist pastors were asked to indicate their level of agreement with the statement, "I believe in the divine inspiration of scripture ." Among Southern Baptist pastors, 100 percent strongly agreed with that statement. To clarify further their beliefs about scripture, Southern Baptist pastors were asked to agree or disagree with the statement, "I believe in the inerrancy of scripture." Among Southern Baptist pastors, 97 percent strongly agreed with that statement, another 2 percent somewhat agreed and 0 percent disagreed. Ed Stetzer, director of LifeWay Research, noted, "It is clear that the 'inerrancy' debate is settled among the SBC pastors we surveyed. They all believe in inspiration with a very small percent not also affirming inerrancy. This is a remarkably high number ." Although Southern Baptists strongly believe in inerrancy, they indicated that the " battle for the Bible " is not over. LifeWay Research asked for the p ... DENVER — Southern Baptist volunteers are donning aprons this week in Denver as they prepare meals for city, state and national personnel providing protection and aid to those attending the Democratic National Convention. Just as the convention is an enormous undertaking for the city — 4,440 delegates, 15,000 members of the media, 21,000 volunteers and numerous dignitaries from dozens of countries — the Southern Baptist first responder ministry, called "Love Denver," has taken considerable effort as well. Each day volunteers prepare and serve 9,600 meals , distributing the meals to 11 different sites throughout the downtown area. More than 600 volunteers serve eight-hour shifts, staffing feeding stations 24 hours a day. More than $250,000 worth of food and drink — paid for by law enforcement agencies — is being prepared and delivered. Local Southern Baptist churches and the Mile High Baptist Association have partnered to make the effort a reality, saving law enforcement thousands of dollars that would have been spent on catering staff. For the churches, meanwhile, it's an opportunity to minister and meet needs in Jesus' name. "We wanted to find a way to be a part of this event in a non-political way," said Jim Shaddix, pastor of Riverside Baptist Church in downtown Denver. "This grew to something far beyond what we ever envisioned it would be." Riverside reached out to the Mile High Association and other Denver Southern Baptist ch ... A group of N.C. Baptists was in Shocco Springs, Ala., on Tuesday, ready to help victims of Hurricane Gustav. A set-up team took N.C. Baptist Men’s largest feeding unit, Manna One, to the staging area until the hurricane passed, according to Baptist Men leaders. Other volunteers and equipment are on stand-by in North Carolina. Hurricane Gustav hit the Gulf Coast on Monday. Initial reports indicated that damage was not as bad as feared, but nearly 1.5 million people in Louisiana and Mississippi were without power today. Volunteers can use Manna One to provide as many as 30,000 meals a day. N.C. Baptist Men asked for prayer for the victims and the volunteers preparing to assist them. One of the N.C. Baptist volunteers, Lawrence Bolin, told News 14 Carolina that the group was ready for the devastation. "We know what we're going to have to do because we've been through it before," he said. The station reported that the group left from Bethlehem Baptist Church in Kings Mountain at about 5:45 a.m. Monday. ... Source: www.bignewsnetwork.com --- 1 day ago
