On my computer, I am trying to get Azureus to run at the speeds my connection should allow, but I can't seem to get it to work right. It always worked fine until a few days ago, but it has been spotty since. I'm on a college campus, and I have my computer connected to the internet to the university's internet through my ethernet port. I can find my way around a computer, but I am a relatively new Mac user and when it comes to technical stuff, I'm not very experienced. Azureus will sometimes get to high speeds (150-200 KBps), but it either jumps down or slows down after a couple hours to in between 5-15. It usually doesn't pass 30 at first, however, and it still slows down. Now I know that my connection should allow for higher speeds (it does this with all torrents), but I can't get it to work. I've run the speed tests and it's usually around 500. I've also run the port test and it can't connect, and it says likely because I have NAT problems. I've only had a green face once since I got on campus, and that was when I was messing around with my IP, trying to make it go faster, but that one fizzled out too. I've checked the Azureus wiki and other sites, and I'm pretty sure I have a static IP, but after that, I'm lost. Sites say to port forward, but everywhere I've looked it seems like they are talking about with wireless routers. There is a lot of wireless on campus, but I don't have it in my room. So my real question is: Is port forwardi ...

I keep getting outbound traffic from port 137 on my pc to 32.1.0.0 port 137. PG2 is blocking the traffic and identifies the address as AT&T Global Network Services. The only time this outbound traffic happens is when I'm running Azureus. I have Azureus set to use a different port. Why am I getting this traffic? Is Mediacom or AT&T trying to monitor my P2P activity? And before anybody says it, I know the simple solution would be to not use P2P. ...

I have aq problem that is driving me nuts. I set up port forwarding rules on the Actiontec router for eMule, Azureus Vuze file sharing, RealVNC (port 5900) and FTP (on custom port, not 21). The ports for the file sharing applications are open and communicating fine however I am unable to connect to the FTP and VNC ports from outside of the firewall. I am able to establish FTP connections from within the firewall just fine so it's not a local machine issue. The port forwarding rules on the Actiontec are non-remarkable. When I try to make an FTP connection I get a "connection refused" on the client side. There are no events in the Actiontec security log so I'm not even sure that the traffic gets that far. I have no idea what's going on. I'm using a Filezilla FTP server that was working fine with the same settings prior to my move to Verizon FIOS. One more thing: the problem is occuring regardless of the Actiontec firewall security setting. I tried it on medium and low with the same results. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Steve ...

I just want to say a big THANK YOU :D to TwoWireGuy1 for his walk-through on port forwarding back in March of '07 which I just found today. (http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r18037134-) As a self-admitted duffer I needed the step-by-step "hand-holding" that you provided to get my Azureus/Vuze file transfers working better. My ISP is SaskTel and your instructions were great. Thanks again. ...

Hi again, So, my speed is up to grade now (see previous post), but now I note my Azureus, BitTorrent and Warcraft downloaders, which use various high-numbered private ports, are totally blocked. Is this what others are seeing too? All inbound ports blocked? Man... I just want to use my access the way the Internet was intended - open, not closed! ...

I have my router configured to reserve two static IP addresses for my laptop, one each for my ethernet and wireless port. This works fine, when I do an IPCONFIG I see that they are mapped correctly. I have opened a port for Azureus and provided access to both ports. The problem is that it works find when connected via the cable but I don't get any remote connections when I undock and go wireless. Is there a reason the ethernet port forwarding works but the wireless does not? ...

I've made a Firefox search plugin once, and that wasn't too hard, but it seems like this requires me to analyze the html of the entirety of a search results page. There might be an easy way, but it is beyond me, so if you could make one and post it on the site, I'd be very grateful. To make one just install vuze and follow this guide http://faq.vuze.com/?View=entry&EntryID=265 . Love the site, btw. ...

So after a relatively painfree experience with an Orcon Homehub at work I decided to get one for home. My main motivation was my wondering if my DLink DSL-502T & a WRT54G modded to run DD-WRT were causing double NAT issues and resulting in slow connections/torrents. You would imagine an all in one solution would at least half the possible causes for slow speeds. And since upgrading so far so good - more green lights than amber in Azureus/Vuze. But as I've come to get used to the Homehub, I was hoping to get a feature of Leopard/MobileMe working - Back to My Mac. The general use is to setup a zero configuration VPN between your various Macs that aren't all in the same location. If this thing actually worked it would be an awesome. Remote Desktop/VNC, File Sharing - even Bonjour support all with no complex setup. The problem is it only works in ideal configutations - and most of those are centred around America's cable connections - and not an ADSL setup in NZ. Back to the Homehub - although offering uPnP, it would seem to be lacking true NAT-PMP support. Via this Apple Discussion , I've found that looks like the same issues but on a BT Homehub (which is in no way the same box as Orcons). OK, so the problem is that the BT Voyager 2100 only supports the WANPPPConnection service of UPnP, while Apple currently only supports the WANIPConnection service. There's a chance Apple could add WANPPPConnection support in a future release, but u ...
