my notebook is coming near to its 2 year life and so far no problems! I'm glad it has been so resilient to any problems except the terrible battery life that is not covered by Applecare which totally sucks. But 1 more year of Applecare seems short for me, I, like many others, worry their computer will crumble after the 3year 1 day. I just want to feel secure:) ... With Hurricane Ike bearing down on parts of Texas, the Applecare Repair Center located in Houston will be closed on Friday and Saturday. So if you have a Mac in for repair, or a part on order, Apple might just be a little slow in responding especially in the parts of Texas affected by the hurricane. But if you are in those areas, your Mac repair is probably not your foremost concern anyway. Stay safe, people. UPDATE (09/15/08 - 08:49 PT): I've just received word that because of interruption of power and water services the Applecare Repair Center in Houston will be closed today. This center deals mainly in Mac portables and those of you with Macs in for repairs should expect delays. In addition, since the bad weather has only moved on to other parts of the country, DHL has cancelled deliveries and pick ups today in Louisville, KY. ... Source: forums.macrumors.com --- 14 days ago
Hello to all (first post) Sometime within the next month I plan on purchasing a new iPod Touch 2G, and I needed some advice. Prior to this I've had the shuffle and 2nd generation Nano. Both of them I got as freebies, so while I take good care of them I never really worried about any kind of protection beyond a case for the nano. However, since I am about to purchase a good (and expensive, but well worth it:D) 16GB Touch I have to ask 2 questions: (a) Are the Touches (at least the 1G's) pretty reliable? It looks that way from the posts I read on the forum (with occasional exceptions) but I don't know anyone that has one outside of a store (to play with, ask, etc). I don't think I'll have trouble running one, not with the help out there, but wasn't sure if that was the case on the hardware side. That leads to question... (b) Applecare Protection Plan: Is it worth it for the second year? I usually get an extended warranty only for laptops/desktops (which has paid off ) but also wasn't sure if it would pay off here. It seems that the first part to fail within two years *might* be the battery (which I think costs $60 to replace, if I remember reading another post right) but since you already paid $59 for the plan you don't really come out ahead. (My nano, battery and all, is still going strong after 2 years, however). It will be interesting to finally buy an ipod and actually keep up with technology instead of being several years behind it: ... Source: www.macmall.com --- 34 days ago

My brother in-law called me to tell me he's having problems with his Intel C2D MacBook purchased in November of last year. Apparently its having DHCP issues where it loses its DHCP settings every few minutes. The only way(s) to get back online is to release/renew the IP every time it occurs. This occurs on both the wired and wireless network connections on his college campus. Anyone have any ideas what this could be? I told him to take it to his nearest Apple repair center since he does have Applecare. ... Find more results for Applecare on RSSMicro.com |
