I post this at the risk of being trite. After all, what else could possibly be written about The Andy Griffith Show? It’s not like I’m one of this show’s megafans, able to quote entire episodes. But I can tell you about the secret lyrics to the famous whistled theme. And I can tell you what happens [...] ... Source: www.thedirk.com --- 9 days ago

What's your favourite piece of technology? At the moment mine would be the iPod Touch How has it improved your life? It's improved my life in two ways. First of all, after watching Minority Report I wanted something that's very futuristic that I could use with my fingers. Then I realised there was something else I could do with it – download TV shows off iTunes. Then my 2-year-old son got hold of it and started working it himself. Next thing I knew it became a great device for him, and for me to have lunches, or concentrate on some work while he was sitting in the corner playing with that. Then it became his – so in a way I lost it, but gained some free time. When was the last time you used it, and what for? I used it about a week ago – I managed to get it off my son – and I took it on set with me, on a movie I was shooting. I had a five-hour gap, so I used it to watch some classic TV I had uploaded – the Andy Griffith show, I think it was. And an episode of Bear Grylls Survival. What additional features would you add if you could? It's got pretty much everything at the moment – it's got Wi-Fi., so you can check your email etc. If it came with a stylus, like a little pen thing, it would be easier to write notes on it, along the lines of the Nintendo DS Lite. I like to take notes when I've got comedy ideas, and if I could use it to write on the Touch and then plug it in via USB and print it out, that would be perfect. Do you think ... COSHOCTON - Some might like to think of Coshocton as quintessential smalltown America, right up there with the fictional Mayberry of "The Andy Griffith Show." ... Source: libjohnbrown.blogspot.com --- 5 days ago
A cherished high school friend recently shared that when she introduces herself to others, she frequently adds that she grew up in Atlanta, back when Atlanta was a small town. For the first twenty years of this writer’s life, from the middle 1950’s through the middle 1970’s, Atlanta had the authentic “feel” of a small, southern town. Crime was low, traffic was easy to maneuver through, and folks were neighborly to one another. It wasn’t until the avalanche of “immigrants” swarmed into Atlanta from all corners of the United States (and more than a few foreign countries) that she changed into the sprawling megalopolis she is today. Perhaps the most loved small town that has ever been is not really a town at all. Andy Griffith has said many times that “Mayberry” is more of a state of mind than an actual place or dot on any map. Still, Mayberry has an infectious appeal. The friendliness of its people, the pace of its lifestyle, and the uncrowded streets and sidewalks make Griffith’s Mayberry a place that multitudes of people would love to find and live out their lives in. One of the most endearing elements of a small town is the local General Store. Long before the retail monster known as Wal-Mart took America captive, “moms and pops” ran dry goods businesses in every small town and community in this nation. They sold canned goods, seed, hardware, flour and sugar by the bag, clothing, and an array of other items. The General Store wa ...

Westboro 6, W-W C 0 The C team ``lost by decision'' after a tough fight with a strong Westboro on Sunday. Once again the offensive line came through, as blockers Andy Carmichael, Cameron Dixon, Domenic Nardone, Travis Poulin, Thomas Griffith, Hunter Clutz, Will Zetter, Will Talcott, and Will O'Neil battered holes through the Westboro defense, allowing the Warriors several long drives. The excitement came as Jared Newhall-Thayer produced a breakout game, with several carries for big gains, a kickoff return deep into Westboro territory, and a spectacular pick to stop Westboro's chances for scoring in the first half. On defense, linebackers Wes Robinson, Robert Jones, and Brad Belinsky, and defensive backs Christian Eng, Matthew Massicotte, and Newhall-Thayer punished Westboro's runners. With the play of defensive ends Poulin, Andrew Straube, Will O'Neil and Cameron Dixon, no team has yet to run the reverse successfully against the Warriors. On the line, defenders shed blocks and made tackles like Robert Yuan's spectacular solo tackle in the third quarter, which helped the Warriors to get the ball back on downs. W-W Perry D 24, Westboro 0 Wayland-Weston has a record of 3-2 this season after defeating Westborough on Sunday. It was W-W's second shutout. Liam Wrean and Michael Connell sparked the offense on each of the Warriors' first-half possessions with runs to the outside of 35 and 55 yards, respectively. The Warriors then settled i ...
