It seems Galilee used to hide things other than a young Jesus Christ. A recent excavation at Galilee in Israel uncovered some Roman Temple ruins from the 2nd century A.D. The city of Zippori houses the ruins, and leads to the observation that a significant pagan population built a Temple in the city during the Roman period. A church from the later Byzantine period  appears to have been built over it, however, according to Zeev Weiss of the  Noam Shudofsky Zippori Expedition. The building of the church over the old Temple seems to bear the idea that the city proscribed to the idea of maintenance of a sacred section for the city. As our source article puts it, The new finding not only sheds light the religious life, culture and society in Roman and Byzantine Zippori, but also indicates that Jews, pagans and later Christians lived together and developed their hometown with various buildings. Thursday night is sounding more and more like a bizarre political half-time show: Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama's big speech on Thursday night will be delivered from an elaborate columned stage resembling a miniature Greek Temple. The stage, similar to structures used for rock concerts, has been set up at the 50-yard-line, the midpoint of Invesco Field, the stadium where the Denver Broncos' National Football League team plays. Some 80,000 supporters will see Obama appear from between plywood columns painted off-white, reminiscent of Washington's Capitol building or even the White House, to accept the party's nomination for president. He will stride out to a raised platform to a podium that can be raised from beneath the floor... Once Obama speaks, confetti will rain down on him and fireworks will be fired off from locations around the stadium wall. What possibly can they be thinking? ...

by hibernia_free (Posted Yesterday, 9:53 pm) This is getting really weird! http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/comments ... id=5660266 Obama Speech Stage Resembles Ancient Greek Temple or is it the Vatican? It is clearly a replica of the Bernini colonnade in St. Peters Square--YES IT"S THE VATICAN!!! Go look up frontal images of the Vatican's colonnade and tell me its not dead on with the two outer square section, the curvature et al. It is clearly not the Lincoln memorial,or greek,or Parthenon. Very few famous curved colonnades and this is obviously a copy of half of one of the long colonnades of the Vatican. Someone, probably not Obama, at the DNC has taken the whole "Messiah" thing too far. I hope they do not use smoke special effects to add to the Catholic Church mimickry? href="http://www.politics.ie/viewtopic.php?f=173&t=40358"> ...

We should expect nothing less, right? After all, Barack Obama is "their" messiah, their Temple, their religion . He is The One . Rich Lowry writes : Thursday night is sounding more and more like a bizarre political half-time show: Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama's big speech on Thursday night will be delivered from an elaborate columned stage resembling a miniature Greek Temple. Redstate is equally baffled: " This Is A Joke, Right? ." Even the McCain camp thought it couldn't be true. From The Weekly Standard : The Temple of Obama Reuters reports that "Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama's big speech on Thursday night will be delivered from an elaborate columned stage resembling a miniature Greek Temple." Obama speech stage resembles Ancient Greek Temple DENVER Reuters Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama's big speech on Thursday night will be delivered from an elaborate columned stage resembling a miniature Greek Temple. He will stride out to a raised platform to a podium that can be raised from beneath the floor. The show should provide a striking image for the millions of Americans watching on television as Obama delivers a speech accepting the Democratic presidential nomination. Politicians in past elections have typically spoken from the convention site itself, but the Obama campaign liked the idea of having their man speak to a larger, stadium-sized crowd not far from where the Democratic National Convention is being held, at the Denver pro basketball arena. Obama was taking a page from the campaign book of John Kennedy in 1960 when the future president delivered his acceptance speech to 80,000 people in the Los Angeles Coliseum. Once Obama speaks, confetti will rain down on him and fireworks will be fired off from l ...
