I'm not really sure who Melinda Dolittle is, but we were told she is a Nasvhilee native and star of American Idol. She sang the National Anthem, and when the first ``stars'' came up, she stopped singing. I guess she wanted to show that she wouldn't even mention the Stars. But, in doing so, she allowed the handful of Dallas Fans to yell ``Stars'' so that everyone could kind of hear them. There might not be another arena that hates the Stars more. The played a team intro that was based on the intro theme to the Dallas TV show. Interesting. ...

One day after the release of her self titled album and a performance on NBCs Today, Kellie Pickler went back on the show to talk to host Kathie Lee Gifford about a free concert. On Picklers new CD, an Associated Press music review says she improves at crafting songs that express her natural exuberance, and the emotional depth behind it. Pickler said her first CD was rushed having just come off American Idol and this time around she took her time and was very involved. She co-wrote five of the songs, including Best Days Of Your Life with best friend and rising star Taylor Swift. Pickler is hitting the road with CMA Entertainer of the Year nominee Sugarland. A week and a half after American Idol 2 runner-up Clay Aiken shocked some of his Fans by coming out, some Claymates are still having a hard time, while others don't seem fazed. On The Clayboard, there were mixed reactions to Clay's most recent Good Morning America interview . In other discussions, there were meditations on why they're Fans , donations collected to send Clay flowers , efforts to move on , and celebrations of Clay's hotness . Meanwhile, John Paulus, the man who kicked Clay's closet door down by detailing his one-night stand with Clay , told E! about the harassment he faced at the hands of some overzealous, crazy Claymates. He said he was fired after they called his work with wild accusations, and also that some "drove up and down [his mother's] street, screaming out that I was a porno whore." He said, in part, "Claymates began attacking me personally. They posted my credit reports, they posed where my parents lived, they were calling my mother's house 1, 2, 3: o'clock in the morning, explained that she was a whore. That should I have been aborted as a child. They got a hold of where my sister lived, started harassing her as well. There was an all-out effort. ... They did whatever they could to intimidate and ridicule me." Perhaps most interesting, Paulus says he's now "friends with some of them"--but presumably not the ones who "sprayed adhesive on my brakes and then threw sand on my brakes." Do you recall the Great Keening of September 24, as if a million Claymates cried out at once, and then were silenced? That was the dark day that American Idol alum Clay Aiken broke the devastating news that he was, in fact, a "gay," sending his dumbstruck Fans into a tailspin (as NClayolina memorably put it, "I will never be able to listen to him sing, 'O Holy Night,' knowing he desires unholy nights"). Now, as the tears on so many Garfield pillowcases begin to dry, Aiken has finally blogged to his Fans about the revelation, and instead of self-flagellating, he has one polite message for the Claymates: "Deal with it." You'd think with all of the important events going on in the world, there would be plenty to fill up the pages of America's newspapers, websites and blogs without the need for information on the private lives of the country's singers and entertainers. But, alas, thats never the case. In fact for the last five years, I've found what seems to have been an inordinate amount of interest (not from the public, but from the media) in my own personal life. Yup, I said it. I don't get why other countries get so fascinated with comparing the two. We Americans generally don't. It almost seems soccer Fans take more offense to the whole "American football vs. football" debate than we do here. Generally we don't give a crap. Here are the points I don't want to hear as they make no sense: 1.  Soccer is the more watched/played sport - popularity does not equal quality. Need I point out Boy Bands, American Idol, the new Indiana Jones movie or Han**** this year. 2.  The stupid "foot"+"ball" argument - I don't care if the ball is thrown vs. not in soccer. This isn't a debate about names and I will call it whatever I damn well please. 3.  This is not a debate about rugby - Sure rugby is bad ass, but it isn't up for comparison. So why is American football superior to soccer? There are plenty of reasons for me to cover. 1. Physicality - Tackling, sub 4.4 40 meter runners, the battle between the defensive and offensive line, jaw jacking hits. The physicality between the two isn't even comparable. I will give soccer players generally being in better "long term" shape, but I don't like long distance running, and prefer sprints. 2. They actually score in football - Points vs. goals. Excitement vs. boredom. How many times can watch the ball change directions and nothing of significance happen and not get slightly bored? I don't get it. We want results, and American football delivers. ...
