We were a good team, and SBTV.com blossomed. We won the Most Innovative Company award at the annual American Business Awards, and we were profitable the following year. Blackwater Worldwide is the subject of yet another report, this time regarding the security company's claims of small Business status. Like companies across the land, Blackwater sought to be designated as a small Business to win contracts more easily from the State Department or other agencies. But is it also possible that government procurement officials wanted to apply the designation to Blackwater to make it easier to award the contracts? Don't laugh. It happens all the time. You contracting folks -- in and out of the government -- know well that the designation of a company can change everything when it comes to Awards. Apply the correct code from the North American Industry Classification System, and a drawn out procurement can suddenly become a snap. (Note to NAICS gurus: feel free to send cards and letters; I want to know more.) Anyway, the report by the Small Business Administration's ... Source: www.moreover.com --- 61 days ago

to you, and you, and you, and you, and you!" I've been on the NW board for about 3-4 years now, and I have enjoyed my stay here immensely. The postings were all interesting and the responses were mostly informative and occasionally entertaining. Whenever I posted a question, you were all unfailingly cordial and very knowledgeable. Thanks to your generosity, I learned about making easy connections at Tokyo Narita, using the showers before continuing onward into Asia, the duty free shopping at HKG, getting from HKG into town on the Airport Train, arriving late at night into SIN, etc. I also thank all of you for the information about Business class Awards from NRT down to BKK, SIN, and even HKG. When the acquisition of NW was announced, I checked out Delta's frequent flyer program. It seemed and still seems harsh and restrictive. My choice was to exhaust my NW holdings or to simply go with the flow and permit my holdings to be absorbed into the Delta program. As it happens, I decided to liquidate the last of my NW frequent flyer miles before the merger. Using the website and also the telephone service (with an American employee answering the phone), I've been able to book a domestic ticket to visit a sister not seen in 5 years and also an intra-Asia Business class ticket for spring vacation. Not having any miles remaining to my account, fewer than 150 miles actually, I imagine that I won't be here much on this board in the future. Now I mu ...

An innovative Kansas interchange project unique for both its design and its partnership arrangement has been named a national award finalist. And that's potentially good news for students. The I-35/87th Street/U.S. 69 interchange in Johnson County this month was named one of 10 national finalists for America's Transportation Award. The award is cosponsored by AAA, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO). The project, which was opened to traffic in October 2006, was named one of 23 regional winners in July. Kansas and the other nine states will now compete for the Grand National Prize – selected by a panel of community, Business and transportation leaders — and the People's Choice Award, which will be decided by popular online vote. The Awards come with grants that, in Kansas, will further educational opportunities for students in engineering, math, science and technology. The $70 million interchange is located on one of the most heavily traveled sections of highway in Kansas and is one of the first single point urban interchanges (SPUI) constructed in the state. The new design, which replaced a traditional diamond-shaped interchange built in the 1960s, includes only a single traffic signal, resulting in fewer delays, increased capacity and enhanced safety. Also unique is the partnership arrangement between the Kansas Department of Transportation and the citi ...
