The long-hitting Johnson, just 24, outpaced a big group of contenders, survived near-disaster after hitting into the water on the 13th hole and outdueled veteran Robert Allenby down the stretch with sensational birdies on the last two holes. Johnson earned the $1,080,000 top prize in the $6 million Turning Stone Resort Championship Sunday at Atunyote Golf Club. Johnson's win also gives him exempt status through 2010 on the PGA Tour. How does that feel for a PGA Tour rookie?  “I'm not sure; it hasn't sunk in yet,” said the 6-foot-4, 190-pound Johnson, a Columbia, S.C., native who played college golf at Coastal Carolina. “I feel like I've worked real hard. I'm very excited.” Johnson trailed third-round leaders Charles Howell III and Tag Ridings by two strokes at the start of the day. His final round 3-under-par 69 gave him a 9-under par 279, one stroke ahead of Allenby. The winner's final score was nine strokes higher than Steve Flesch shot to win the inaugural Turning Stone championship over the 7,470-yard Atunyote Golf Club course last year. That reflected in large part the rough weather conditions - rain, wind, hail and cold this year compared to sun and warmth in the September 2007 edition of the tournament.
