Director Alfred Hitchcock made a habit of cameo appearances in the opening scene of his films. Is it possible he made more than one appearance in some films? In North by Northwest, he is seen running for a train and missing it. But here’s something else later in the movie… North by Northwest: About 43 minutes [...] ...

clipped by: pussycatdoll Clip Source: www.mentalfloss.com 1. He had lots of phobias (including eggs and jail cells!) Hitchcock had a lot of fears. The most unusual of these phobias was probably his fear of breakfast foods. More specifically: chicken eggs. The oozy yellow yolks, specifically, freaked him out. He once said, 2. He was one of the first to make cameo appearances Sir Hitchcock has 52 major films that have survived (one of his silent films from 1927 has been lost) and he makes cameo appearances in 37 of them. 3. He popularized the MacGuffin it’s something used in a plot that helps to advance the story, but doesn’t really matter for any other reason than to advance the story. For instance, Harrison Ford once told David Letterman that all of the objects in the Indiana Jones movies are basically MacGuffins. 4. He wanted Cary Grant to hide out in Lincoln’s nose, but have his pursuants discover him when he sneezes. Tags: movies , man ...

Vamos a ello.

Source: Telegraph (8-15-08) Debate is raging on movie message boards over whether a plump, jowly woman who briefly features as a train passenger in North by Northwest was actually the acclaimed film director in drag. Hitchcock was known for making quirky cameo appearances in his movies, but was never previously thought to have played a woman. The key scene comes around 44 minutes into North by Northwest, which was released in 1959. The woman, who is wearing a turquoise dress and blue and white hat, is one of several passengers who have their tickets checked by an inspector. ...

Sir Alfred Joseph Hitchcock was born on August 13, 1899, in Leytonstone, London, England. One of the best-known and most popular filmmakers of all time, he pioneered many techniques in the suspense and psychological thriller genres. Here at the AADL our DVD department is stocked with lots of classic Hitchcock films and television shows for your viewing pleasure. Watching Psycho , probably his best known film, will always make your next experience in the shower one to remember. My personal favorite has always been The Birds (love that schoolyard scene!), but we also have lots of other faves like Dial M for Murder , North by Northwest , Rear Window , Rebecca , which won an Oscar for Best Picture in 1940, Spellbound and Vertigo . Fans of Hitchcock's old television series Alfred Hitchcock Presents will find season one and two on our library shelves and, for anyone not familiar with Alfred Hitchcock, check out the Dick Cavett Show where he was featured as a guest way back in 1972. Hitchcock died from renal failure in April 1980, just four months after he was made a Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth II in the New Year's Honours. ...
