The manager—who's suavely introducing himself and asking if he can get you a drink before the waiter, who will also introduce himself, arrives—is played by The Rock, at last realizing his dream of running his own restaurant from The Rundown . When you say you don't know what you want to drink yet, The Rock graciously allows this—reassures you, even—and, muscularly, moves on. No explosion ever occurs... Eli Landon was accused f murdering his estranged wife, and has spent the last year dealing with shock, guilt, grief, as well as the suspicion of almost everyone around him. He has lost his job, most of his friends, and his sense of place in the world. After his grandmother has a fall and ends up in the hospital and then in the care of relatives, Eli agrees to return to Bluff House, her home above whiskey Beach, to take care of it. In whiskey Beach, Eli encounters Abra Walsh, the woman who cleans Bluff House for his grandmother, cooks, runs yoga classes, works at the local bar, is a masseuse, and basically a woman of all trades. Abra is strong, capable, a lover of life, and a survivor. Slowly, we learn her history, and realize why she has such a deep understanding of what Eli is going through. As Eli begins to heal, and the relationship between Abra and Eli deepens, they are threatened by a break-in, the murder of a P.I. who was investigating Eli, and the discovery that someone has been breaking into Bluff House for a while and digging a huge trench in the basement. Once again, fingers point to Eli, but this time he fights backs and tries to prove both his innocence and find out the identity of his wife's killer. whiskey Beach is a satisfying read, with interesting, strong characters. Once again, Roberts excels at creating a sense of place, ...

For every fascinating foray into the background of the country music business, there were at least two other stories that didn’t seem to matter. Now that we’ve seen a full season, and even with tonight’s prosecution/pregnancy cliffhanger, I’m still not sure what the whole political side of the show contributed to anything. Teddy’s (Eric Close) bid for Mayor could have been interesting stuff, ditto his affair with ex-partner-in-embezzlement Peggy (Kimberly Williams-Paisley) and his power struggle against father-in-law Lamar Wyatt (Powers Boothe). Yet neither of those things really came to pass. Between all the talk of baseball stadiums and Federal Investigations, it’s like the entire plotline forgot to actually be interesting. This means that a significant chunk of the episode is spent on something about which we were never given sufficient cause to care. And, as a result, time is taken away from stuff that is vastly more interesting, such as the tragic downward spiral of Deacon Claybourne (Charles Esten). With all that having been said, “I’ll Never Get Out of This World Alive” is ultimately a pretty solid season finale, filled with moments that bring some characters full circle, while placing ...

Whiskey Shortage Is So Bad, Buffalo Trace Has Issued a Press Release

Source: chuckcowdery.blogspot.com --- Wednesday, May 22, 2013
whiskey stocks have been tight for the last decade or so, but there has been no shortage of rumors about brands or expressions being discontinued, prices being raised, or products being degraded through reductions in alcohol content or age. The problem is a simple one. Quantities needed for sale in 2013 were predicted in 2009 or earlier. Most of the bourbon being distilled today won't be available for sale until at least 2017. No one predicted that the current bourbon boom would shift into another gear about three years ago. It's a nice problem to have compared with the alternative, but it can be difficult to manage, as Maker's Mark showed in February with the proof cut fiasco. The problem is so acute that Buffalo Trace Distillery (owned by Sazerac), no doubt in response to a barrage of inquiries from retailers and consumers, today felt compelled to issue a press release acknowledging the problem. Despite our producing more every year, it says, demand continues to outpace supply. “We are making more bourbon every day," says Kris Comstock, bourbon marketing director at Buffalo Trace. "Our warehouses are filling up with new barrels. Waiting for the bourbon to come of age is the hard part. While we wait, there could be temporary product shortages, even on favorites like Buffalo Trace and Eagle Rare.” Although the press release doesn't mention it specifically, Weller 12 has already experienced localized out-of-stock conditions. The e ...

It didn't take much, just a faux-leather jacket and a couple of wheels, and you finally managed to find a place where you feel at home. The whiskey Barrel Staves create a unique curve from front to back and as well as from side to side allowing you to maneuver around with easy. The board it self is very heavy duty, after all it is made from American White Oak. The material has been getting stronger and harder from it's previous life of holding whiskey. The top side of the board is pure black because of the charring the distilleries have to do top give the whiskey its great taste and colors. The board's length is about 34 inches and width 8-9 inches. Important: The board does not include the trucks, wheels & hardware. The board will have the holes drilled for the trucks in our standard measurements. If you would like to shape the board and drill the truck's holes your self please let us know in the memo section of the check out page. ...
