The History of Video Game Consoles – A Blast from the Past

Source: www.gadgets-club.com --- Wednesday, May 08, 2013
<img src="http://www.gadgets-club.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/game-console_thumb.png" & width="150" & height="81" style="margin: 5pt 10px 0px 0px; float: left;" border="1" align="left" alt="" />Whenever I start playing a few games on my Xbox 360, I couldn’t help but wonder how it all came to be. My parents always tell me that video games weren’t exactly popular back in the days and that it was considered an idea of the future. With this in mind, I began to recall my early childhood memories when it comes to video games. And since I didn’t have anything good to do today, I decided to do some research about the complete history of video game consoles. To my surprise, I realized that the very first console I had back when I was a kid wasn’t exactly the "first game console". I had this notion that my old console was the very first produced, so I guess it was indeed worth the time researching about video game consoles. Before home and industrial computers , the Playstation and the Xbox 360 arrived, people were already using bulky computers either for work or for relaxation. In any case, let’s start our blast from the past as I take you back from the humble beginnings of our beloved video game consoles. The idea of playing games in front of the television was considered absurd and a thing of the future. All except for one Ralph Baer who conceived one absurd idea; the ability to interact with your television, which includes playing games on it. This was in 1951 while building television sets for Loral in Bronx, New York. In 1966, he successfully developed a game called "Chase" where two dots chased each other around the screen ...

Source: www.socialanxietysupport.com --- Wednesday, May 01, 2013
Ok, call me behind the times, but I'm still using an original Nintendo with about 40 games (I only play 4 of them) and a PS2 with a nice F1 game. Both consoles were given to me by a friend who was throwing them out. It's boring playing with myself, so I need a console that I can play against people online, XBox, PS3/4? Wii? I like first person shooters and racing games like need for speed and COD. I don't want both since I don't play other than to keep busy on rainy days, so something under $200. I also don't do the HDTV thing so something that has analog outs so I can hook it up to my tube TV. Yeah, remember those? Thanks ...
