After the tornado hit Moore, Okla., on Monday, and severely damaged two elementary schools, fearful parents scrambled to search for their children . Trenda Purcell, who found both her kids safe from harm, was one of the lucky moms . In what could very well become one of the iconic moments from this tragedy, the moment when Purcell was reunited with 8-year-old Kamden is captured in this emotional video on OKnews.com . ( watch the full clip below. ) As the mom of two told "CBS This Morning" in an interview, she had walked over a mile to find Kamden outside Briarwood Elementary School , where he is in first grade. "I'm amazed that he walked out of that building alive," she told the morning show. She had already heard that Kamden's older brother, Keegan, 15, was alive, but had to endure the terrifying search for her youngest. Once she wept and hugged him tight, Purcell told CBS, she turned to his teacher to give thanks for saving the youngster's life, along with all the kids in the class. Indeed, teachers are emerging as true heroes in the aftermath of this tragedy. The "Today" show reported on Rhonda Crosswhite's efforts to save children's lives . Here’s one little piece of good news following the deadly tornado that whipped through the Oklahoma City area Monday. During a live interview with CBS News, Moore resident Barbara Garcia found her missing dog beneath the debris. Garcia explained that she rode out the storm in the bathroom of her now-decimated home, but got separated from her dog. As she’s telling her story, someone off-camera spots the dog, buried beneath the rubble. At least 51 people are dead, including 20 children, in the aftermath of what's being called a monster tornado. The worst of the twister hit Moore, OK, a suburb of the capital Oklahoma City. The National Weather Service says storm had wind speeds up of to 320 km/h and ranked an EF-4, the second most severe classification. The twister has flattened entire neighbourhoods, including two schools, trapping children under the rubble. At least 120 people are being cared for in hospital, about 70 of them are children. The National Guard has been called in to lend a hand. The Red Cross has opened shelters for those displaced by the twister. Aerial footage from Moore shows block after block of homes and business reduced to their concrete foundations, streets littered with cars, power lines, hydro poles and heaving concrete. A tornado watch has been issued for western Indiana for a line of storms moving out of Illinois until 6AM. The watch includes the following counties : Boone, Carroll, Clay, Clinton, Daviess, Fountain, Greene, Hamilton, Hendricks, Howard, Knox, Marion, Martin, Monroe, Montgomery, Morgan, Owen, Parke, Putnam, Sullivan, Tippecanoe, Tipton, Vermillion, Vigo, Warren A tornado watch means conditions are favorable for the development of strong thunderstorms capable of producing tornadoes. Severe thunderstorms may also be possible including gusty winds (over 55+ mph) and large hail (greater than 1″ in diameter). A line of storms is moving through Illinois that has already produced gusty winds near St Louis. That line will progress east, though some weakening will be possible. Additional storms are firing ahead of this line into central and eastern Illinois. This line is expected to arrive in Indiana after 2AM and continue through the early morning. A two-mile-wide tornado with winds up to 200 mph swept through Oklahoma on Monday, flattening buildings and killing 51 people, according to the state medical examiner’s office. Dozens were injured during the storm with the death toll expected to rise. The Associated Press reports Plaza Towers Elementary School in Moore took a direct hit and first responders have pulled several children from the rubble as they search for survivors. CNN reports 75 students and staff members were seeking safety inside the school when the tornado hit.
