The pinball wizards at Zen Studios are attacking the tower defense genre with its knights vs. vikings title, Castlestorm, due on 29th May on XBLA where it will cost 800 MSP. CastleStorm is a hybrid of traditional tower defense with real-time physics-based Angry Birds-esque catapult combat and resource management. It brings to mind a 2D cartoony version of ACE Team's Rock of Ages with its frantic blend of RTS elements and twitch-based action.
