September 26, 1869 – July 26, 1934)’s Little Nemo in Slumberland. Little Nemo in Slumberland first appeared in the New York Herald from October 15, 1905 – July 23, 1911 and then switched to William Randolph Hearst’s New York American newspapers from September 3, 1911 – July 26, 1914. McCay’s strip was re-titled In the Land of Wonderful Dreams when switching to Hearst’s paper. His compositions and narrative techniques are gorgeous and enchanting, just like the dream world he tried to create through the strip.

Source: hotelfred.blogspot.com --- Thursday, April 25, 2013
<img src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-AgQ_IMvlTbE/UXj3nS_YMNI/AAAAAAAADGM/1ixEG2QvMYU/s400/2013-04-24_Dino.png" & width="150" & height="154" style="margin: 5pt 10px 0px 0px; float: left;" border="1" align="left" alt="" />So I'm currently doing some creative reconstructions of some partially-lost Winsor McCay strips from 1934, the year he died, which were never finished. It's for a book on McCay's Gertie (and other McCay dinosaurs) being put together by Ulrich Merkl, who was responsible for the fabulous Dreams of the Rarebit Fiend book a couple of years back. I'll tell you one thing, being Winsor McCay was hard work – these things are taking me an age to draw! ...
