In a few months, Vin Diesel will return to the big screen as someone other than Dominic Toretto. That’s right, after nearly a decade since the actor portrayed Richard B. Riddick, he will will reprise his role as the dangerous anti-hero in Universal’s Riddick . The studio has released a new international trailer for the summer movie, along with a Comic-Con poster that emphasizes Diesel’s sci-fi character. In Riddick , directed by David Twohy , Vin Diesel’s Furian warrior (which was first introduced in 2000′s Pitch Black ) is left for dead on a desolate planet. Shortly thereafter he finds himself fighting against alien predators and bounty hunters from throughout the galaxy. The new international trailer shows Riddick fighting both, and the aliens are extra slimy. Diesel’s presence is strong, and he gets some cool lines that make this film look better than the others. Check it out: While the release of the film is still months away (September 6), Riddick is expected to have a big presence at Comic-Con (which is only a month away). As most of you already know, Vin Diesel is reprising one of his most famous and beloved roles in RIDDICK, as the titular hero, this September. Through heavy fan demand, Universal greenlit the project last year with director David Twohy (who helmed the character’s other films PITCH BLACK and CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK) returning to the director’s chair. This past weekend, Diesel – who maintains an insane 43 million Facebook followers – posted a brief message that sent the fanboysphere into utter chaos. It said: “It’s been over a decade since I’ve been to Comic Con…” Could it be true? If so, it stands to reason that Universal may be offering up a first look at the film to a very luck group of festival goers at the insanely popular San Diego gathering. Most importantly though, it will give die hard Riddick fans a chance to see the man himself in the flesh. I am a big fan of Vin Diesel’s Riddick character (ya even the much maligned sequel to Pitch Black) and while there are a few people mumbling about the similarities between Riddick and Pitch Black I don’t care – Riddick is still looking like it is going to be great fun. Following the new Comic-Con poster debut over this weekend, another brand new international trailer for David Twohy's Riddick starring Vin Diesel has hit the web. We just got the full trailer for this sci-fi sequel a month ago, but this one still packs a punch. It shows quite a few full scenes, but also has some fantastic VFX alien shots that kind of kick ass. The cast includes Katee Sackhoff , Karl Urban , Nolan Funk , Dave Bautista , Noah Danby and Jordi Mollà . Vin Diesel has revealed a new poster for Riddick on his official Facebook page, and very pleasing on the eye it is too. The new poster is a murky red and black affair, with Diesel's titular badass glowering out of the gloom like a particularly well-muscled gargoyle. The new poster is designed to mark the film's participation at Comic-Con, which runs as usual in San Diego between 18 - 21 July. As for the film itself, it will pick up with Riddick abandoned on a hostile planet, where trouble takes the form of a race of predatory aliens and a posse of marauding mercenaries looking to cash in on the price on his head.
