Will The Rookie Class Of Tight Ends Produce Fantasy Value? (Tyler Eifert & More)

Source: rotoprofessor.com --- Sunday, June 09, 2013
by Ray Kuhn Up until just a few years ago, not a lot of fantasy football emphasis was placed on tight ends. There were the few, like Antonio Gates and Tony Gonzalez, at the top of the list that warranted an early round selection. After that, there was not much of difference in your options and you were able to wait a few more rounds to take your tight end. However, over the last few years that trend has begun to change. It is now perfectly alright to take a tight end such as Jimmy Graham in the second round. Both the game and the position have changed, and fantasy football players have had to adjust accordingly. There is now a plethora of talented tight ends that will enhance your fantasy team, but aside from a select few players tight ends do not generally have an impact as rookies. There is a lot to digest for rookie tight ends. Their position requires them be both a blocker and a receiver, so that increases the learning curve. Just because some tight ends were drafted early in April, it does not mean that you should take them early in your draft. With that being said, let’s take a look at some of the incoming rookie tight ends and the potential impact they can have on your fantasy team. Tyler Eifert, Cincinnati Bengals. Not only was Eifert the first tight end drafted and the only one taken in the first round, but he is the most pro ready. It did come as a little bit of a shock that the Bengals took him since they already have Jerma ...

2013 NFL Draft: Buccaneers would have taken Tyler Eifert in first round

Source: www.bucsnation.com --- Saturday, June 08, 2013
<img src="http://cdn3.sbnation.com/uploads/chorus_image/image/14439583/20130426_jla_sv4_058.0_standard_400.0.jpg" & width="150" & height="100" style="margin: 5pt 10px 0px 0px; float: left;" border="1" align="left" alt="" />Had the Tampa Bay Buccaneers retained their first-round pick in 2013, it's likely that tight end Tyler Eifert would now be playing in pewter and red. That's what Pewter Report writes in their weekly must-read column SR's Fab 5 that the highest-rated player on the Bucs' board when the thirteenth pick rolled around was the Notre Dame tight end, who was widely seen as the best tight end in the draft. Tyler Eifert fell 8 more spots, though, when the Cincinnati Bengals snapped him up at number 21. This says a couple of things about the Bucs' views of tight ends, which seems to be rather dim given the fact that the Bucs' top two tight ends are Tom Crabtree and Luke Stocker -- one deemed not good enough for a cheap tender by the Green Bay Packers , while the other has been little more than a decent blocker with the Bucs since being drafted in the fourth round three years ago. The tight end may not be a focal point of the Bucs' offense, but that doesn't mean the team can't use quality players at the position. Eifert was the best tight end in the draft, especially as a pass-catcher, and would have certainly provided a boost to an offense that lacks a good inside receiving option. The Bucs' interest in Travis Kelce backs that up: Pewter Report writes that he's the only other tight end the Bucs coveted. Not enough to select him in the second round, where they took Johnthan Banks , and they didn't get a chance to take him in the third round. ...

Although our first broadcast for this season is still more than two months away, I thought it would be fun to get a few interesting nuggets from first round draft pick Tyler Eifert. Here’s our recent Q & A (Eifert’s answers are in bold ): Aside from football, what do you do well? Golf. I’m about a 2 or 3 handicap. I like to play a lot. That’s pretty impressive. Do you bomb it off the tee? I do – about 340 yards on average. Seriously? For real. Aside from professional athlete, have you had any other jobs? Nope. I took the trash out and did some chores around the house, but that was about it. I played sports year-round. Who was your favorite athlete as a kid and why? It was Michael Jordan because he was just the best and dominated. What do you spend your money on as a guilty pleasure? I really don’t spend money on a whole lot. Electronics, clothes, movies, anything? I don’t like to go to the movies – I’d rather wait for them to come out (on TV or DVD). With clothes, at Notre Dame I would just wear issued gear because that’s what they gave us. I like cars. It would be fun to spend money on cars someday. Do you have a dream car? For something somewhat reasonable, I guess it would be the S65 AMG Mercedes. I think that would be pretty sweet. So yo ...
