CHICAGO (STMW) – A Tour bus crashed into another vehicle on the Near North Side Thursday night, police said. The crash occurred about 10:15 p.m. in the 400 block of West Division Street, police said. The Tour bus was traveling east on Division when the driver crossed into the westbound lanes, and hit an SUV head on, said police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli. The driver of the bus may have experienced some kind of medical issue, Mirabelli said. Two people were hospitalized with “non-life-threatening” injuries at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center and Northwestern Memorial Hospital, police said. A charter bus carrying students from Walker Elementary School to a zoo in New Orleans has been involved in an accident. The bus was about 30 minutes outside the city on Interstate 10 when a vehicle crossed the median and struck it, according Okaloosa County Schools Deputy Superintendent Kaye McKinley. The bus went into a ditch, but none of the fifth graders from the Crestview school on-board were injured, she said. “Everybody is fine, and they are proceeding onto their field trip,” McKinley said. The bus was one of three traveling to New Orleans. A replacement bus was sent to pick up the children from the bus involved in the crash, she added. Walker Principal Jeanine Kirkland is headed to New Orleans now as well. Details on the status of the driver of the other vehicle or any passengers in the vehicle weren’t immediately available.
