Trying to straighten them things out, Johnson said of the crooked fingers on his left hand. Johnson said he wasnt certain exactly when he suffered the injury. It was never reported by the Lions on their mandatory injury updates. You just think its something thats hurting and you keep playing, Johnson said. During an interview with reporters Monday morning at the teams headquarters in Allen Park, Mich., Johnson also addressed the off-field troubles of former teammate Titus Young. Young remains in jail in Riverside, Calif., after being arrested three times in less than a week. Very tough, Johnson said. Just pray he can get his off-the-field stuff straight so he can move on with his life. You can never foresee things like this but I wish him the best. Were praying for him. ...

Source: www.playersview.net --- Saturday, May 18, 2013
<img src="http://www.playersview.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/titus-young-crowd.jpg" & width="150" & height="98" style="margin: 5pt 10px 0px 0px; float: left;" border="1" align="left" alt="" />We like our athletes big, bold and fearless. We tend to not allow much room for vulnerability. They are however, quite human and as such they to fall prey to the same statistics that provide a snapshot into the sample size of American life. Mental health awareness is gaining more exposure as the taboos and stereotypes that are associated with these various disorders are either shattered or overcome. Recently the plight of former Detroit Lions wide receiver Titus Young has forced even the hardest heart to pray for the Young man’s welfare. The behavior associated around his multiple arrests are not simple cries for help. They are an illogical pattern of behavior that may date back to incidents that occurred during his freshman days at California’s University High School. Young’s father claims that Titus developed an undisclosed disorder after he suffered a concussion during his rookie year in Detroit. But Young’s pattern of reckless behavior caught up with him early and often at each stage of his career. High school discipline led to college discipline when the talented Young once again fought the law and the law won at Boise State. Either Young has a long term problem that has manifested itself continually or there were a series of coincidences that led up to the alleged concussion that the Detroit Lions never listed on their injury report. According to the National Institute for Mental Health , Young is not alone. “An estimated 2 ...

There were smiles all around. President Matt Millen smiled. New coach Steve Mariucci smiled. Chairman Bill Ford Jr. smiled. Lions fans all over the country smiled. It was a giddy time. The Lions felt like they were on to something. The year prior, the team drafted its "franchise quarterback" when it selected Joey Harrington from Oregon. Now the Lions were adding Rogers, out of Michigan State, to be the franchise receiver. Finally, a real quarterback-receiver tandem! Harrington proved himself to be a bust—a nice Young man, but he lacked the intangibles needed to be a winning professional quarterback. The Lions did him no favors, never able to surround Harrington with bona fide talent. Within three years, the Lions pulled the plug on the Harrington era. Rogers was a bust, too, maybe one of the biggest in NFL history. But his problem wasn ’t lack of talent. It was lack of moral character and decency. The Lions, as usual under Millen ’s leadership, failed to do their due diligence before drafting Rogers. Had they done some digging, they likely would have learned about Charlie’s skeletons at MSU . The failed drug tests, for one—Rogers failed one each year at MSU , it came to light years ...

Current Lions linebacker Stephen Tulloch says that he recently was on the same flight from Miami to Detroit with Young, and the two had an interesting and deep conversation according to Tulloch. Tulloch told The Detroit News that during their conversation, Young shared with him his mental disorder, and admitted that “he wants to get cured.” “He’s aware of the situation that he’s dealing with and he showed me a paper and we went over it and I looked over it, and I understand it,” Tulloch told the Detroit Free Press . “A lot of people laugh about it and ke-ke-ke about it, but it’s real. He has head issues, and the Titus Young when he came in as a rookie and the Titus Young now is two different people. “It’s kind of like when you look at him, he’s looking through you. It’s different. You can tell there’s something going on in his mind, in his head, and I hope that he can get help.” “He has a problem,” Tulloch said. “Ain’t no question about it. We had some long discussions and he showed me some things and I was like, ‘All right.’ The fact that before he didn’t realize it, now he realizes it. Young’s problems aren’t new, because he’s been getting into trouble since his early years at Boise ...

He has morphed into many things -- a punchline, a storyline, a timeline of chaos. But before Young engaged in an alleged crime spree that included him running not from defenders on a football field, but police officers on foot, there was a violent hit to the head. Â It was 2011 and Young was a rookie with the Detroit Lions. A former teammate of Young's, who asked not to be identified, remembers a game early in the season when Young returned to the bench complaining about some sort of collision he had on the... ...

To the Lions’ management and coaching staff the distractions and diversions were becoming increasingly difficult to deal with and harder to defend. At some point, Titus Young had to go. But not before the behavior got really bizarre, on national television no less. Lining up improperly, shooting his mouth off to then –wide receiver coach Shawn Jefferson and then finally the accusatory tweets challenging his employer to release him. The Detroit Lions looked like first class fools for picking him out of Boise State, but geniuses for obliging his tweeted demands and releasing him before irreparable harm was done to team and organization...
