Source: www.wrestlenewz.com --- Sunday, May 19, 2013
Chris Jericho defeats Fandango: Solid opener. I wasn’t blown away by anything in the match, but it was a decent way to hype the crowd for the start of the show. I’m glad Jericho got the nod in this one; I expect their third contest at Payback to be Fandango’s defining moment. Dean Ambrose defeats Kofi Kingston to win the US Title: I honestly didn’t expect Kofi to drop the title this soon, but Dean Ambrose is more than ready to carry a midcard title. I honestly see Dean Ambrose participating in main event feuds by the end of this year and being a strong candidate to win a money in the bank briefcase. Good match from both competitors, but it didn’t go long enough to be anything memorable. Sheamus defeats Mark Henry in the strap match: I feel like Sheamus’ corners should’ve been reset when Henry caught him, but the finish was still pretty good to the match. I wanted to see more whipping, but obviously these two could only destroy each other so much with that strap. Good match, and good feud. I was surprised Henry didn’t get the win, but I expect him to challenge John Cena for the WWE Title before the year is over regardless. Henry’s character is the most entertaining it’s ever been, and WWE would be foolish if they didn’t take advantage of it. Alberto Del Rio defeats Jack Swagger after a false towel throw in and a restart: Good match from these guys, but I hate false finishes. I didn’t expect Swagger to win the match, and I don’t ex ...

ThunderStruck: Top WWE Title Matches: Part One

Source: www.wrestling-edge.com --- Friday, May 17, 2013
I recently read the list put out by WWE.com of the top fifty WWE Title matches of all time. After going through all the matches, I decided to make my own list and show where I disagree. Here’s part one! 50. The Undertaker vs Jeff Hardy, Ladder Match, Raw July ‘02: I’ve often called this match overrated in terms of the effort Jeff Hardy put into it, but the bottom line is that this match put the charismatic enigma on the map as a top contender for the WWE Title. Taker was the big evil heel at the time, and he dominated Hardy throughout most of the contest with the exception of when Hardy would miraculously find a way to get in some offense. The crowd was insane for this match, and the fact that it took place on Monday Night Raw when it was clearly a pay per view caliber level match makes it that much more special in the history of WWE’s longest running show. 49. Hulk Hogan vs Andre the Giant, WM 3: What was once dubbed the biggest match of all time has become almost an afterthought in the grand history of WrestleMania. I think the biggest problem with this match is that people really don’t appreciate the history behind Andre turning on Hogan and the anticipation factor that people felt as they waited for this epic showdown. To me, the match is nothing over two and a half stars, but the electricity of the Detroit crowd(93,000+) made it something special as Hulk Hogan headlined his third WrestleMania in a row and defeated the might ...

Source: www.prowrestling.com --- Friday, May 17, 2013
Jee-S’ MAIN EVENT AND WWE NXT REVIEW 05/15/13 Kane defeats Seth Rollins via DQ when Dean Ambrose breaks up the pin attempt by Kane on Rollins. The Shield was going for the Cerebrus Bomb but The Usos made the save. Thoughts: It was a solid match by two very talented competitors; I just think their in-ring styles were way too different. Roman Reigns would’ve made more sense as Kane’s opponent here seeing as both of them wrestle a lot more similarly, but I guess they gave the singles opportunity to the more experienced wrestler Rollins first and I’m not complaining. I’m very excited for the tornado tag team match The Shield will have this Sunday against Team Hell No. The Usos coming down at the end to save Kane made little to no sense to me, but I’m happy they’re being used a bit more these days and hopefully they get to be serious contenders to the straps in the near future. Overall, good match and good segment to start Main Event! Recaps of RAW: Shield vs. Team Hell No & Cena, HHH-Lesnar feud hype. Thoughts: I think I made my opinion very clear about recaps in the previous reviews I have written: useless and overused. It wouldn’t be as bad if they didn’t abuse it, but they take up way too much time; time that could be used for many more interesting matches or segments. Note: Turns out The Usos coming down earlier was to set up a match with Seth Rollins & Roman Reigns on SmackDown! This should be good. Sin Cara defeats Wade Barrett ...

Jericho had Edyta Sliwinska as his partner, but they never got the chance to dance. ^What a waste of a dance contest. I obviously hate the dancing part of Fandango’s character, but the aggressiveness is awesome! I honestly believe Fandango and Jericho will have no problem topping their somewhat average WrestleMania encounter with a brutal fight at Extreme Rules. Good opening segment to help put over Fandango. Ryback squashes Zack Ryder. ^Ryder sucks, and Ryback rules. Smart of WWE to take advantage of Ryder’s popularity. Enough said. Ryback is on fire, but I still don’t think he will win the WWE Title just yet. It’s Cena’s run and ending this soon wouldn’t make any sense. The Prime Time Players defeat Tons of Funk. ^Are the PTP finally going to get a decent push? Probably not, but it was nice to see them a get win here. My gripe is that the match was just far too short. Teddy Long announces that Dolph Ziggler will not defend the World Title at Extreme Rules due to his concussion. He announces that Alberto Del Rio will go one on one with Jack Swagger in an “I Quit” Match and the winner will be the number one contender for Ziggler’s title. Also, the fans can vote tonight on whether Del Rio or Swagger will face Big E. Langston. ^I’m obviously in favor of Ziggler not being stripped of the title, but why not embrace a new concept and let Langston c ...

Cirez D brings in subtle but powerful synth pulses beneath the beat, creating a listening experience that few producers can make. Yet again, it seems as though Eric Prydz has 2013 in the bag. This will probably not be your last time hearing these monstrous tracks. Expect to hear at least one of these get some airtime during Eric Prydz’s set at Electric Daisy Carnival New York , which is only a mere ten days away! Vickie Guerrero interrupts and brings out Ryback. Ryback announces that Extreme Rules will be a last man standing match against John Cena. ^I like this rivalry. I don’t expect Cena to lose the title at Extreme Rules, but I do expect this feud to last through the summer for the title. Solid opening to keep the rivalry going, and it’s good to protect Cena so that he can heal up for the pay per view. Ryback still bores me on the mic, but I think I’m going to enjoy his upcoming match with Cena. Randy Orton defeats Damien Sandow using the RKO. ^More awesome wrestling! Orton is so good at making people look great, but in this case his competition was already stellar. I always enjoy a good straight up wrestling match, and anybody that knows Randy Orton’s history knows that he’s having some of the best matches in WWE right now on a regular basis. Big Show attacks Randy Orton on the stage after the match. ^I hope Show and Orton give us a good performance at Extreme Rules, but I’m also hoping it’s the end of this feud for the time being. Orton needs to have a regular feud with some of the newer guys like Cesaro, Rhodes, and Sandow. Chris Jericho brings out Tons of Funk to judge Fandango’s performance tonight with him. Fandango loses to R-Truth when he gets frustrated by the judges and walks away for the countout. ^I like this feud a lot. I’m hoping Jericho’ ...

Jee-S will be back with me covering the shows next week, but for this week it’s just me all by my lonesome. Enjoy! WWE Main Event Review 05/01/13 Kofi Kingston defeats Antonio Cesaro with trouble in paradise to retain the United States Championship. ^Fantastic match between these two! Cesaro should have the gold in my opinion, but at least he’s competing in top quality matches with talent like Kofi. I don’t think I’ve seen a match this good on Main Event in quite some time. Perhaps WWE should take my suggestion and utilize the midcard Champions a bit more on the show? Justin Gabriel defeats Heath Slater. ^And more quality wrestling closes out WWE’s one hour ‘special’ show on ION. I enjoyed the chemistry between these two, and I wouldn’t complain about either of these guys having a run with some gold in the future. Final Thoughts: Two good matches on a show where we expect to see good wrestling. What is there to complain about? For the first time in quite awhile, I feel like this was the sort of episode we should be receiving each week from Main Event. Good stuff! WWE Smackdown Analysis 05/03/13 Ryback defeats Daniel Bryan with shell shocked. Langston and Zeb Colter where the winner gets to pick the stipulation for the World Title match at Extreme Rules. Rodriguez rolls up Colter after involvement from AJ Lee, Dolph Ziggler, Alberto Del Rio and Jack Swagger. ^This is definitely one of the most creative things WWE has done in quite some time. I enjoyed the match from start to finish, and I liked the no-DQ stipulation allowing the superstars to get involved. How much more fun could we have to kick off the show? The added bonus of the entire thing for me was seeing Ricardo Rodriguez in action. Great to Raw and nice way of keeping the importance of the World Title focused on. John Cena brings out three kids in honor of World Wish Day who wanted to be on Monday Night Raw. Cena talks about donating to make a wish and calls the kids honorary superstars tonight. Cena pumps up the crowd and gets them to cheer for the kids. ^I can’t say enough good things about John Cena and the WWE for all the Make a Wish work that they’ve done over the years. Over 5,000 wishes in the last 31 years? INCREDIBLE! Loved this segment! Randy Orton defeats Cody Rhodes using the RKO. ^Cody proved here that he deserves more than a lousy tag team feud against BroSai. Just solid back and forth action from both men.
