Large sinkhole closes Tanger Outlets

BLOWING ROCK, N.C. —The Tanger Outlets in Blowing Rock were forced to shut down Monday because of a large sinkhole. The sinkhole, which measures nearly 20 feet deep and about 15 feet wide, opened up feet away from where hundreds of cars pass every day at the Outlets. According to WSOC , workers believe the hole was most likely caused by the recent heavy rain. Workers at the Outlets on the Parkway heard the noise and then saw bushes and a large portion of the median disappear. Much of the dirt is gone where several storm drain lines merged underground. More than two dozen businesses remain closed as a construction crew builds a temporary entrance. Officials hope to re-open the Outlets on Tuesday. More at : WSOC ...
