Last month, for an episode of Parks and Recreation , Patton Oswalt ad libbed a seven-minute vision of what Star Wars VII ought to be, complete with the Avengers and several Greek gods. J.J. Abrams is staying in the family for his costumes on Star Wars Episode VII . Not only will the two biggest sci-fi franchises in history be handled by one director, but they'll also be designed by one costumer. Michael Kaplan, the Costume Designer on Star Trek and Star Trek Into Darkness , has joined the production of Star Wars Episode VII. Not a whole lot has been set in stone for Episode VII, though Jonathan Rhys Meyers is rumored to be in talks to Star . The film will reportedly follow the children of the original three protagonists, Luke, Leia, and Han. Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford are also apparently in talks to return. While many of us are still lamenting the loss of animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars, there’s good news coming from a galaxy far, far away (aka Disney HQ) – Star Wars fans are getting a new cartoon franchise in 2014, one that covers a previously unexplored era of the universe’s history. Disney XD will reveal Star Wars: Rebels as a one-hour special before the full launch sometime next year. The show is set in the two-decade gap between Episode III and IV in the main series continuity, and will chronicle how the Empire is consolidating its power and hunting down the last of the remaining Jedi. Up until now, the Star Wars: Episode VII rumour mill has largely concerned itself with the will-they / won’t-they saga of Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford, with wider casting whispers having proved few and far between. However, that’s all changed this morning with Latino Review reporting that Jonathan Rhys Meyers is in talks to join the first episode of the new trilogy. No details have been released as to who Meyers might be playing, but the Star does have previous with director J.J. Abrams, having appeared in a supporting role in Mission: Impossible 3 . Given the ferocity with which Abrams guards his secrets, don’t expect confirmation of this one any time soon, although it does make a nice change from all the talk about the return of the old guard. Directed by Abrams, Star Wars: Episode VII will begin production in the UK next year, with the film expected to arrive in cinemas in 2015. ...
