Here's the teaser trailer for Delivery Man , a new comedy starring Vince Vaughn as a guy who finds out he's the father of 533 children after a mistake at a fertility clinic 20 years ago. Set for release November 22nd, it's a remake of the 2011 French-Canadian movie Starbuck . It shocked me to read this week of a case back home in England where a Mother (already a mother of three adopted daughters) persuaded one of the daughters, a teenager and a virgin, to become inseminated with Sperm and become pregnant, thereby giving birth to a child which the girls Mother (grandmother of the child) intended to claim and raise as her own. The (grandmother) ie mother of the pregnant virgin - is now behind bars in jail and it is not clear from the reporting whether the child born is with the teenage Mother or has been placed in foster care. It seems remarkable about this case in the context of our 'global village' that many developed countries in the world do not have any laws to stop someone from buying Donor Sperm on the internet and using it at home without supervision. So it can be sold legally in Denmark to a citizen of Uk in whose country it is illegal and the purchaser illegally imports it, in this case, not for herself but for use by somebody else. The offence, to my mind, runs alongside incest and rape based on the sheer inducement alone. Perhaps prostitution also. Does this have any relevance to Indonesia and whether an Indonesian female, for example, would feel encouraged to go through such a process? Many of us have encountered girls who have gone through a 'surrogate pregnancy' by non-insemination and have handed over the child to the 'fostering/adopting' parents by a contractual arrangement. Well this has certainly been a week for me so far, and it's only Tuesday. Not only do I have my own marriage problems to contend with, but now my ex husband has to get in on driving me nuts ~ The man is a lousy father, even when I was married to him he was not actively involved with the kids. When he left he put himself and his happiness first and foremost and the kids second. My daughter has been in therapy for the past 2 years for anger issues directly related to him and my son went through a period of cutting things - including his grandparents (his father's parents) couch when he was taken there for a visit and the grandparents started bad mouthing me. My ex has never been involved with the kids schools or activities, never going to functions, except once when he brought his girlfriend du joir to my daughter's thanksgiving celebration, which highly ticked off my daughter. (she "hates" every girlfriend and/or fiance he has because she feels he pays more attention to the woman then he does to her - she projects her anger at her father onto these women) Both my kids have been A students their entire life. My son got a PT job this year and has been struggling in one subject. I monitor his grades online and saw that he has a D average in the subject currently for missing 2 homework assignments. A woman desperate for another child forced her 14-year-old daughter to get pregnant using syringes of Donor Sperm, a British judge says. In a ruling reported for the first time on Monday, High Court judge Peter Jackson said the mother had behaved in "a wicked and selfish way" that almost defied belief. The judge said the woman, an American divorcee living in Britain with three adopted children, hatched the plan after she was prevented from adopting a fourth. The scheme involved getting her oldest daughter to inseminate herself with syringes of Sperm purchased over the internet from a Denmark-based company, Cryos International. Much of the movie’s unassumingly idiosyncratic appeal can be attributed to Colin Firth’s arrestingly low-key lead performance in the title role. Actually, to be more precise, Firth plays Wallace Avery, a glumly discontent middle-aged fellow who flamed out quickly years ago during his brief run on the PGA circuit, and, when we first meet him, is unhappily employed as a floor manager at a FedEx site in Orlando. Wallace in turns plays Arthur Newman, an identity he assumes to claim a casually offered job as a resident golf pro at a county club in Terre Haute, Indiana. And the role playing doesn’t end there. Before he leaves Orlando, Wallace fakes his own death in a haphazard, half-thought-out fashion that indicates (a) Wallace has little experience in breaking the rules and/or acting on impulse, and (b) he believes, and not without good reason, that no one – not even his bored girlfriend (Anne Heche) or his estranged 13-year-old son (Lucas Hedges) – will spend much time investigating his disappearance, or mourning his passing.
