Before flying out to Paris on Wednesday, Solomons told Weekend Argus he had had nothing to do with the recent attacks on two gang pastors, the late Albern Martins and Ivan Waldeck, who survived the attack. Solomons often accompanied Martins, who was shot dead in March, and Waldeck, who was shot and injured last Friday, while the pastors tried to preach peace among warring factions across Cape Town. Solomons, a gangster turned actor, has admitted to alliances with alleged fellow 28s gang member George “Geweld” Thomas, and Colin Booysen, who was shot and injured last Wednesday. Booysen is allegedly a co-leader of the Sexy Boys gang, based in Belhar. Before he left for France, Solomons confirmed he had visited Booysen, who was “doing okay in hospital”. Slick calm and the tide just coming off full high. Coming out of the Patuxent River, headed north. Lots of bird working just south of the Gas Docks, 60' of water. Several Charter Boats and regular folks workiing area. Thought about joining the fray, just TOOO many people for me. Passed the gas docks and even with the power plat and broke right to get the boards over. First time using board and I wanted LOTS of room. Boards went over easy peasy lemon squezy. Three rods per side, tamdoms on each rod. Three white parachutes with white sassy shades. Three Charturse parachuutes with Charturuse sassy shads. Short line (heavey) was 4.5 feet, single hooked rigged 9" shad. Long lines were 12 feet rigged with 9" shads. Weights varried (3oz/6, 4oz,8, etc...). Looked around and had forgot my umbrellas and my bag of weights. (*)^)&&))(* What do you do------shut up and fish. Lots of brids working the eastern edge, but crab pots everywhere. Brids were working in 26' and less towards the eastern shore. Lots of marks on the HDS 9; bait and good marks. Most fish located between 15 to 30 feet in the water column. Remember, no in-line sinkers. Water temp on the HDS - 64 degress. Checked lures oftern, most needed cleaning, although not real bad. Zigged Zagged E/W until 1100 hours. Most of the fleet worked the Gas Docks south. Trolled to the mouth of the Patuxent. One knock down! First trip o ...

Predictive Coding: Solomons New Baby?

Source: technogumbo.wordpress.com --- Wednesday, May 01, 2013
Two recent events have brought a new focus on predictive coding and it’s use in electronic discovery matters. The first was an order from Judge Robert Miller Jr., of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Indiana on April 6 th in the case of In Re: Biomet M2a Magnum Hip Implant Products Liability Litigation (MDL 2391). That order has been referred to in numerous headlines as an endorsement of predictive coding. As an example Law Technology News asserted that “ Indiana Federal Court OKs Jump-Start on Predictive Coding” and the ABA Journal went so far as to say that “ Judge OKs Use of Predictive Coding to Cut E-Discovery Document Review Group from 2 Million to 5,000”. But in fact the Judge did nothing like that. To the contrary, he went to great pains to point out at page 4 of his Order that “The issue before me today isn’t whether predictive coding is a better way of doing things than keyword searching prior to predictive coding. I must decide whether Biomet’s procedure satisfies its discovery obligations …” And he found that it did. Since that Order was published, however, several commentators have pointed out that the BioMet procedure was perhaps not as accurate as the Judge may have thought, a fact that unfortunately was not well laid out in the Plaintiffs brief opposing the process that Biomet used. Perhaps the most thoughtful critique of the general process employed is by well-known attorney and consultant W ...

Their work speaks for itself. But when you come across photographs of the quality of David Solomon ‘s it behoves one to acknowledge the talent and sharpness of the work. After looking through Solomons entire portfolio the first thing that struck me about his work was his sensitivity for people, his ability to recognise vulnerability and humanity. It gives the pictures a depth that leaves you thinking long after the image has gone. I strongly advise you to check out his website, he’s even done a section entitled ‘Top 30′ to make your life easy. Here’s what he has said about starting off as a photographer and what he love about working in London: I was brought up in London and became fascinated in photography after visiting Magnum’s ‘In Our Time’ exhibition. As my interest grew I started to take it more seriously and ended up studying Documentary Photography at Newport. I learned more about street photography there and turned my attention to colour when we were given a project assignment. London had always been my home and its familiarity to me meant it was the ideal location to practice and experiment. I probably couldn’t have chosen a more difficult approach to my first project, on the London Underground. Nothing could have prepared me for shooting with a flash in such a confined space but I learned a great deal from the experience and I managed to make some of my first good s ...
