Before we talk about how to use taxes, let’s talk about the different tax controls available to mayors. The tax controls available to each mayor depend on their city hall. Here is what tax controls look like for different mayors and their city halls: As you can see, the most control is available to mayors who have a City Hall with the Department of Finance. Every hour when your hourly income is calculated, one of three things happens depending on your tax rate: 1) If your taxes are high, there is a chance that your Sims will lose happiness. 2) If your taxes are low, there is a chance that your Sims will gain happiness. And 3) If your taxes are in the middle, no extra happiness is gained or lost. In Maxis’ announcement, Senior Producer Kip Katsarelis admitted it was a tough decision. “We want to ensure the Mac is a great experience for our players and that is why we are taking more time,” he said. To thank Mac users for their patience, Katsarelis announced that players of the Mac version will receive “Launch Park,” a special area of the game introduced in the PC version’s Update 4 for early adopters. Depicting British cars on the wrong side of the road was the least of &lt;b&gt;Simcity&lt;/b&gt;’s problems. That sounds nice, but considering that the rest of announcement detailed a cascade of coming bug fixes and improvements for the existing PC version, it’s worth wondering if the Mac version will have a bumpy launch regardless of the extra time. On the bright side, as Maxis originally announced in April , you won’t have to buy a new version of &lt;b&gt;Simcity&lt;/b&gt; for Mac if you’ve already bought it for the PC.
