By Jim Miklaszewski and Courtney Kube, NBC News The Army has launched an investigation into possible Sexual Misconduct or Sexual assault at the Space and Missile Defense Command at Fort Greely, Alaska, military and defense officials tell NBC News. Follow @NBCNewsUS The sources report there are allegations that an Army commander or commanders had Sexual relations with female soldiers under their command. It's not clear whether the alleged contact was forced or consensual. If it was forced, it could result in criminal Sexual assault charges. Consensual relations with a subordinate would still be a violation of regulations. The commanding general ordered the investigation upon learning of the allegations. Fort Greely is near Delta Junction in the Alaskan interior. It is a launch site for anti-ballistic-missile missiles, and because of the bitter winters there it is home to the Cold Regions Test Center. The Department of Defense has been ramping up efforts to fight Sexual assault within the ranks. Earlier this month, the department said that the number of cases increased sharply in the last year. The All Japan Judo Federation has begun an investigation into the actions of a former director and a female judoka. Both parties were left unnamed. Allegations made by involved parties indicate that the director made an attempt to “kiss” and to “hug” the female judoka while in a Tokyo subway elevator. Speaking on behalf of the All Japan Judo Federation, Noriko Mizoguchi revealed the allegations at a symposium on eradicating abuse in sports. According to Mizoguchi, he met with the athlete on May 13th and her attorney. The judoka is considering whether or not she wants to request the director to step down from his position within the Federation. Sadly, according to her attorney, Masaki Sakaida, the woman went to superiors within the Federation to state what had happened when it happened, but nothing was done. It was then that Sakaida reached out to Mizoguchi. This is the 16th such case levied against the All Japan Judo Federation, which has been plagued with instances similar to this. The All Japan Judo Federation has come under much heat as of late due to not only abuse allegations, but financial mismanagement by their chairman, Haruki Uemura. Brig. Gen. Bryan Roberts is facing accusations of adultery and engaging in a physical altercation with a woman that is not his wife. The 29-year veteran was the top general at Fort Jackson, S.C., where he took command in April 2012. He previously served as head of a unit training Iraqi soldiers. Roberts has been suspended pending an investigation into the allegations against him. The Army made the announcement of Roberts’ suspension on Tuesday , but did not provide further details regarding the assault and adultery allegations. “It was not clear whom Brig. Gen Bryan Roberts struck,” USA TODAY reported, indicating that the general may have physically harmed the woman with whom he had an altercation. NBC News reports that the altercation involved Roberts and the woman he allegedly cheated on his wife with, and that the two were involved in a violent argument. After making up, Roberts allegedly bit the woman’s lip, which caused her to seek medical help, a US military official told the news agency. Brig. Gen. Peggy Combs, Commandant of the US Army Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear School at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, will take over as interim commander while the investigation is ongoing.
