Sergio Romo made national headlines last year when he wore a T-shirt proclaiming “I only look illegal” at the Giants’ World Series parade. Now, he’s taking his signature tagline to the confectionary world. Bay Area creamery Three Twins Ice Cream announced last week that they’ve signed a contract with the Giants reliever to sell his own branded ice cream. Romo’s flavor will be called “Sergio Romo’s Mexican Chocolate.” As noted by Inside Scoop, Romo and Three Twins are hopeful the product will help raise money for immigration reform. Call it a delicious way to spread an immigration reform message – and it involves chocolate. Come September Three Twins Ice Cream will be selling “Sergio Romo’s Mexican Chocolate,” the Huffington Post reports . The ice cream’s caption? “It only tastes illegal.” Romo, a pitcher for the San Francisco Giants, has been a vocal proponent of immigration reform, so it is no surprise he signed up to produce the ice cream with the activist twist. Back in December Bay Area-based ice cream company Three Twins released a mockup of an ice cream flavor they wanted San Francisco Giants pitcher Sergio Romo to front. And now it's happening. The deal, announced last week , means that folks will be able to taste their Sergio Romo Mexican Chocolate ice cream soon. But that's not all. The ice cream comes with the tagline "It only tastes illegal," which is itself a nod to Romo's first foray into political activism, when he stepped out at the Giants' World Series parade wearing a bold t-shirt with the words "I Just Look Illegal" stretched across his chest. Immigrant rights supporters gleefully celebrated the athlete's bold political statement, and it was after that turn that Three Twins reportedly approached Romo. Back in December the company said that they wanted to partner with Romo for the ice cream flavor in part to, "raise money for immigration reform."
