The game started with a pitch out in the top of the first inning by junior Rebecca Patton. Senior Ashley Collier made her 48 th career start and was subsequently subbed out following the pitch out by Patton; Collier had been hurt for the most of the season and coach Erin Thorpe wanted her to start the final game of her career. Collier received a standing ovation and was greeted by her teammates in right field territory. It was Senior Holly Bourke’s turn. In the bottom of the first inning, Bourke poked a pitch just over the fence for her fifth home run of the season. The home run may not have been a tape measure job by any means, but it was enough to extend Bourke’s on-base streak to 23 games. Boise State pitching would combine for a total of four hit batsmen on the afternoon. However, luckily for the Broncos, the offense stepped up and dominated the Wolfpack’s pitching.
