Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sports The entire 2012-13 season for the Houston Rockets was clouded some by the whole Royce White situation. We haven’t heard much about White in recent weeks or months, but it is something that must be addressed before next season begins. I would have to believe that the team needs to explore finding a way to rid themselves of White before that time comes. Everyone knows about White’s problems and the lack of solutions all around. When you sign up to be a professional basketball player though, you have to accept some of the things that come with it. It involves traveling on a plane and interacting with your teammates and the fans. I don’t think that White has finally grasped those ideas yet. This will come to a head before the 2013-14 season gets underway because it can’t last any longer. White needs to either go with the plan and take the number of plane rides that are necessary or go find something else to do which is going to be for a lot less money. He can be a motivational speaker and make his money that way, teaching other people about mental illnesses. Houston can’t waste any more time on White. I wish him the best since I know all about the mental issues that he is dealing with, but I’m not a pro athlete making millions of dollars. I am waiting to see how this ends. Houston could find themselves in even better shape next season if they can trade White to get a player who wants to be around the ...

I am Royce White. I am not 6’ 8. I can barely grow a beard, much less one of the epic varieties that White often sports. I’ve never been named “Mr. Basketball” in Minnesota, or anywhere else for that matter. In fact, my basketball career ended before I finished high school. I’m also not a former top-five NCAA basketball player, nor was I the 16th overall selection of the 2012 NBA Draft. Royce White plays basketball better than most people on the planet. I’ve merely worked typical 9-to-5 office jobs, worked in publicity, and I’m a journalist with credits for ESPN, Wired, Esquire, Details, and many other outlets. So it’s clear that I’m not, in fact, Royce White. Physically and financially, White and I are worlds apart. Despite these differences, however, in the one way that might matter the most, I am Royce White. I've been dealing, mostly in secret, with a mixture of generalized anxiety disorder, panic attacks, and obsessive-compulsive disorder for nearly 10 years now (and probably even longer than that). Following Oklahoma City’s 107-100 loss to the Rockets in Game 5 Wednesday, Houston rookie, Royce White, who has yet to log a single minute this season, tweeted at Kevin Durant “Y’all are looking SHAAAKYY BAAABYY,” which sparked some controversy especially since the No. 16 pick in last year’s draft has been a non-factor for the team all season and has constantly caused unnecessary drama. Friday, Kevin Durant responded to the comments at the team’s shootaround in Houston prior to Game 6, claiming he doesn’t know who Royce White is and hadn’t heard of the comments up until this point: “Who is that?” Durant asked when asked his reaction to White’s comments. Durant claimed he wasn’t aware of the comment and then asked again “Who is that?” “I haven’t seen him on the bench,” Durant said. “I haven’t seen him on the bench. More often than not, taunting an opponent on Twitter is something that will make a player look bad. If you are a D-League player taunting an NBA team and one of the best players in the game, you are always going to look bad. Royce White gave us a perfect example of that earlier this week when he sent a tweet at Kevin Durant about how the Oklahoma City Thunder are starting to look “ shaky ” against the Houston Rockets. The irony of the whole situation is that White suffers from an anxiety disorder that has put his NBA career in doubt. However, Durant claims he isn’t all that familiar with him. “Who is that?” Durant said Friday when asked about White’s comments, via Darnell Mayberry of The Oklahoman . “Who is that? I haven’t seen him on the bench. I haven’t seen him on the bench. So, I mean, I’m not worried about guys that’s not even in our series. Ain’t that the guy that’s afraid to fly?
