At this year’s Display Week 2013, the Korea-based manufacturer will flaunt a 13.3-inch notebook display with a 3200 x 1800 pixel resolution and 276 pixels per inch. This beats Apple’s 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro by a decent margin, which comes with a pixel resolution of 2560 x 1600 and 227 ppi. It also outshines Google’s 2560 x 1700- resolution Chromebook Pixel, which comes with a 12-inch display packing 239 ppi. Not only will Samsung’s new notebook display cram more information into a 13-inch LCD screen than its competitors, but it will also increase power savings by 30 percent, the company said in a statement . Notebook panels aren’t the only displays we can expect to see during Display Week 2013. The company will also show off a 10.1-inch 2560 x 1600 resolution touch screen for tablets and an 85-inch LCD panel for TVs that enables local-dimming control. This means that color will render more vividly on the 85-inch screen with higher contrast and “80 percent brightness uniformity.” A recently published Samsung patent also detailed plans for a TV with a flexible display that can be adjusted to fit your preferred viewing angle, although we’re not likely to see any of this bendable tech anytime soon. However, those attending the Vancouver-based event this week will get a sneak peak at Samsung’s new Diamond Pixel technology, whic ...

The company has revealed a new 13.3-inch display panel offering 3200×1800 pixels resolution for ultrabooks at the Display Week 2013. With this resolution, it offers much higher pixel density than Apple’s MacBook Pro 13 (2560×1600 pixels) and MacBook Pro 15 (2880×1800 pixels) Retina Display models. Samsung is also unveiling an all new HD AMOLED display to resolve the power consumption issues in the mobiles by reducing the battery usage by up to 25 percent than consume by the current version. It is also expected to unveil a low-cost 23-inch touchscreen with multi-touch interface, according to a report on Slashgear . On TV front, the Korean company is showcasing 55-inch and 65-inch models of its Ultra HD TV displays, which are the smaller variants of the 85-inch and the 110-inch UHD TV display in the S series of panels launched at the CES this year. LG today has also announced its new OLED panels for TV, 5-inch and 7-inch devices and a flexible plastic display at the same event. ...

New MacBook Air refresh likely to feature Intel Haswell CPU, no Retina Display

Source: www.mindofthegeek.com --- Sunday, May 19, 2013
The MacBook Air is likely get to a needed refresh within the next few weeks, if stock of the product, or its lack thereof, is any sign. Currently the most popular MacBook Air, the 13.3-inch model with a 256GB SSD, is out of stock at many brick-and-mortar retailers, although Apple is still selling the device on its online store. The only non-Apple reseller of the MacBook Air reporting stock, according to CNET’s Brooke Crothers , is Best Buy at this time. Vanishing stock of an Apple item, especially Macs, typically is the best sign that a new model is coming very soon, and the MacBook Air is in need of a refresh. The next MacBook Air will likely feature Intel’s latest CPU, the Haswell line of chips, that feature better power management and graphics capabilities. Perhaps the MacBook Air will be bumped up to a minimum 2.5 Ghz CPU instead of the current minimum 1.8 Ghz CPU. Apple has yet to add its trademarked Retina Display to the MacBook Air, and while as much as Apple would love to add it, the addition of a Retina Display presents some engineering challenges. Retina Displays use more power than older, lower resolution LCD displays, meaning that Apple will have to find a way to cram in a bigger battery while keeping the razor-like thinness of the MacBook Air. Even adding a few millimeters could be harmful to the expectations of Apple and customers when it comes to the Air. My feeling is that the MacBook Air will feature a slightly i ...

We say this because availability of the device has begun to dry up, which only fuels speculation of a refresh. What to expect from a 2013 MacBook Air refresh – The most likely MacBook Air upgrade for 2013 would be the Haswell processor, as this is due to hit devices in June, so this would be a perfect opportunity for Apple to unveil their thin notebook with this latest Intel CPU during WWDC next month. If this were the case, then we should expect a faster MacBook Air in 2013, along with improved battery life. But there is also another feature that could make it onto the Apple’s thinner notebook, Retina. There’s been speculation for a while now that we could see a 2013 MacBook Air with Retina display. However, this feature is a controversial one, as some of our readers have expressed they have no need for an improved screen on the Air, although this is not a view shared by all, so where do you stand? Retina vs. Haswell – Personally, Haswell is almost certain to make it into the 2013 MacBook Air refresh, with the Retina display not happening until 2014, but don’t take my word for it. Likely 2013 MacBook Air release – According to recent rumors the new model could be released as early as the end of June, although a July release is more possible, as this was the same month the current Max OS X update was rele ...

Specs I am Looking at: 2.4GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 Turbo Boost up to 3.4GHz 8GB RAM 1600MHz memory 256GB flash storage1 Intel HD Graphics 4000 NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M with 1GB of GDDR5 memory This laptop will defiantly suit most of my needs from a laptop. My only question is if you can play games on the native resolution, specially Team Fortress 2, and Minecraft. (2880x1800) I like to play games while I travel but I need a laptop that still looks professional (Mac imo) Let me know if you have ever played those two games on max-med settings with the native resolution and what kind of FPS you are getting. Not sure if this is the right place to post this on the forums as I am new here. Thanks for your Help ...
