The Gladiators held a 44-28 lead in the fourth quarter, but 27 unanswered Pittsburgh points sent the Gladiators to their second straight loss and gave the Power their first home win in six tries this season. Three different Gladiators receivers- Dominick Goodman, Thyron Lewis, and Jamar Howard- finished the game with five receptions. The Gladiators and Power traded touchdowns throughout the first half, as Howard and Lewis caught touchdowns in the first half and Terrill Byrd had a rushing touchdown to keep the Gladiators tied 21-21 into the final two minutes of the second quarter. Kenny Stafford’s second receiving touchdown of the game secured a halftime lead for the Power, but Aaron Pettrey’s 36-yard field goal as time expired kept the Gladiators within four points at the closure of the first half. Momentum shifted in favor of the Gladiators in the second half, as they scored 20 straight points to take a 44-28 lead; their biggest advantage of the game. Goodman caught a six-yard touchdown, and Joe Phinisee took an interception back 49 yards to give the Gladiators the 16-point lead at late as the 13:18 mark ...

Boston has looked extremely dominant, while the Pens were extremely lucky to get by the Islanders, who showed Boston and the rest of the NHL how to beat the Pens. The Senators made an admirable effort, but their stars were injured and only a fraction of their normal selves. The Bruins strength also is puck possession, which they dominate at. You can not score goals if you do not have the puck. They are great at faceoffs as well. I have not read all of this thread but it seems like a lot agree. No, most definately the Pens have the decided underdog mantle and will have to play as with desperation to compete. ...

But facts are facts. I haven’t missed a second of playoff hockey in the last 2 decades. I played hockey growing up. What I’m saying is that nobody knows more about hockey than me. That’s what I’m baffled how the line in todays game is Bruins -150. Am I watching a different series? I mean the Bruins aren’t just better than the Rangers. They are a billion times better. The only reason the Rangers were able to steal Game 4 is because the Bruins literally got bored and fell asleep. That’s it. Tuukka falling down. Chara not paying attention. The Bruins forgot this was the playoffs because the opponent is so inferior. Well that won’t happen today. The Penguins already closed out Ottawa. Now it’s the Bruins turn to closeout NY and set up an epic Eastern conference finals. How sure am I? If the Bruins don’t win today I’ll never talk hockey again. Bruins Mortal Lock – 150 ...

Great start to his career in 2012, but fell apart in August and seemingly has not been able to get major league batters out since. Started this season in the rotation, but was removed after his first (bad) start. Got sent to the minors, but came back up when Tom Gorzelanny went to the disabled list. Now he's back in the starting rotation with Kyle Lohse having his start skipped due to discomfort in his elbow. It will probably be just a one-start thing, and Fiers has the good fortune of facing the Pirates . Hopefully the last series between the two teams isn't a sign that things are changing. Fiers has yet to face a Pirates hitter at least ten times. For Pittsburgh, Jeff Locke (4-1, 2.73 ERA, 4.49 FIP) is the Pirates' starter who is having a good year but will inevitably falter in the second half of the season. Seriously, for the last few years isn't that how it has gone for the Pirates? They keep making these runs for the NL Central crown, or .500, or whatever and they look really good in the first half. Usually because their pitching is over-performing, especially one specific pitcher ( James McDonald 2012, Charlie Morton 2011). Then everything goes to hell in the second half of the season and they fall a few games short of .500 for the xth time in a row. Remember when they Brewers crumbled in the second half of 2007 and missed the playoff ...
