Since his illustrious victory at Barcelona last year, Pastor Maldonado has endured a slump in his recent form behind the wheel of his Williams FW35. So far the Venezuelan ace has failed to finish within the points for the Grove-based outfit all year, and was starkly out-qualified by rookie team-mate Valtteri Bottas last time out at Canada. Although the 28-year-old’s lack of pace since his victory has been largely down to the uncompetitiveness of the Williams outfit, one can hardly deny that Pastor Maldonado has already become renowned for his hit-or-miss nature in what has only been a relatively short career in Formula 1. Last season Pastor Maldonado visited the race stewards on numerous occasions for a combination of misdemeanors mainly centering around his knack of causing incidents. On the other hand, Pastor Maldonado also managed to stun the opposition on more than one occasion last year. Mainly in qualifying, the Venezuelan sensation would squeeze every last ounce of pace out of his Williams, allowing him to qualify as high as 2nd at Barcelona [eventually pole when Lewis Hamilton was disqualified], 3rd at Valencia, 2nd at Singapore and 3rd at Abu Dhabi. El par de corruptos Pastor Maldonado y Rafaél Ramírez siguen despilfarrando impunemente el dinero de los venezolanos. Alrededor de $200 millones del dinero de la nación han sido perdidos miserablemente. debido al acto inmoral protagonizado por estos dos sujetos. Ramírez ha celebrado un contrato ilegal con una empresa británica, Williams, para patrocinar al corredor de autos llamado Pastor Maldonado. La Fórmula Uno es un deporte elitista, que no se practica en el país y al cual los venezolanos, excepto el hampón llamado Pedro Carreño, no tienen acceso. El pago de los millones es para que el sujeto Maldonado pueda llevar en su auto el logo de PDVSA. Como el sujeto siempre ha llegado botado, así llega el logo de PDVSA. Pero no es el éxito o el fracaso deportivo de esta iniciativa lo más importante, sino el acto inmoral de destinar ese cerro de dólares al patrocinio de un zángano para que de vueltas y vueltas en varios países del mundo, viviendo una vida de lujos mientras en Venezuela la gente no puede ni limpiarse el fundillo. It is now more than a year since the Venezuelan broke through for his maiden win, with Barcelona 2012 seen at the time as the end of the great British team's long slump. Pastor Maldonado was adamant that a top ten starting position for tomorrow’s Monaco Grand Prix would have been possible, had the rain continued to fall upon the legendary Monte-Carlo street circuit. However, the weather improved and Pastor Maldonado struggled on the dry tyres to only qualify 16th for the race. After enduring a frustratingly uncompetitive start to the season, Williams are still searching for their first points of the season. As the rain began to fall only moments before the start of the all-important qualifying hour, the possibility for a decent qualifying result was certainly on the cards for both Pastor Maldonado and Valtteri Bottas. The duo excelled in the opening segment of qualifying, finishing 1st and 9th respectively in the tricky weather conditions. However, as the conditions improved throughout the second segment of qualifying, both drivers began to struggle. Eventually Formula 1 rookie Valtteri Bottas managed to out-qualify experienced team-mate Pastor Maldonado, who frustratingly began to suffer from locking tyres at the front as he switched to the super-soft Pirelli tyres. Pastor Maldonado hopes a return to Monaco will inspire the Venezuelan to force a change in Williams’ fortunes. The Grove-based outfit is yet to score a point in the 2013 Formula One season, with both Maldonado and rookie team-mate Valtteri Bottas struggling with Williams’ troublesome FW35 car. 2012 Spanish Grand Prix winner Maldonado has enjoyed considerable success at the Principality in the past, finishing on the podium three times in four starts whilst racing in the GP2 Series between 2007 and 2010. Maldonado has failed to replicate this form in his visits to Monaco as a Williams driver, however, having retired whilst running in a solid points-paying position in 2011, before suffering a weekend-ruining grid penalty for clashing with Sergio Perez, then of Sauber, in the third free practice session of last year’s event and retiring from the race the following afternoon. Maldonado has refused to allow such disappointments to dampen his enthusiasm for the weekend ahead, however, stating: “I have always been very competitive at Monaco, doing well there in GP2, so I always look forward to this race as I feel very comfortable driving the circuit. “You can also feel the history of Formula One as you drive through the streets and tackle some of the really famous corners. “Monaco is a very difficult challenge, both mentally and physically, as you have to try and find the limits of the car with no margin for error if you push too hard.” ...
