World War I served as a testbed for the use of the aircraft as a weapon. Initially seen by the generals as a "toy", aircraft demonstrated their potential as mobile observation platforms, then proved themselves to be machines of war capable of causing casualties to the enemy. Frank Baum and illustrated by W. W. Denslow. Originally published by the George M. Hill Company in Chicago on May 17, 1900, it has since been reprinted numerous times, most often under the name The Wizard of Oz, which is the name of both the 1902 stage play and the 1939 film version. The story chronicles the adventures of a young girl named Dorothy Gale in the Land of Oz, after being swept away from her Kansas farm home in a storm. Thanks in part to the 1939 MGM movie, it is one of the best-known stories in American popular culture and has been widely translated. Its initial success, and the success of the popular 1902 Broadway musical which Baum adapted from his original story, led to Baum's writing thirteen more Oz books. The original book has been in the public domain in the US since 1956. (source wikipedia) Book-style cases are not new to the market but we felt that they were lacking in the style department. It also seems that the Kindle 3's lighted cover gives me a more readable night time result, the Paperwhite's fonts quickly become washed out when you push the light beyond 10, anything below is a bit too dim for my eyes. I haven't quite decided what to do yet but I'm still very impressed by the daytime operation of the Paperwhite, with the light on it easily beats my Kindle 3 for contrast and white purity, it's just a shame that it doesn't feel as nice at night. Has anyone else had a similar experience? ...

It was initially published in serial format starting in the autumn of 1910, and was first published in its entirety in 1911. It is now one of Burnett's most popular novels, and is considered to be a classic of English children's literature. The garden is the book's central symbol, inspired by Burnett's interest in Mary Baker Eddy's Christian Science theories.[1] The secret garden at Misselthwaite Manor is the site of both the near-destruction and the subsequent regeneration of a family.[2] Using the garden motif, Burnett explores the healing power inherent in living things. Maytham Hall in Kent, England, where Burnett lived for a number of years during her marriage is often cited as the inspiration for the book's setting.[3] Burnett kept an extensive garden, including an impressive rose garden. However, it has been noted that besides the garden, Maytham Hall and Misselthwaite Manor are physically very different.
Is upgrading from a Kindle Keyboard to a Paperwhite worth it?

However, I'm thinking of upgrading to the Paperwhite for the improved display. Is it worth the price, and is there any trade-off in battery life? After trying out the Kindle app on the Nexus 7, I was pretty blown away by the screen quality of my books. I actually felt more compelled to read them as a result. However, I find e-ink to be much easier on the eyes, so I'm sticking with Kindle. The screen on my Kindle Keyboard isn't bad, but I'm wondering how it compares to the Paperwhite for long-term reading. For those who have used both the Kindle Keyboard and the Paperwhite, do you think the upgrade is worth it solely for the better screen? Bonus question: how does the Paperwhite battery life compare to that of the Kindle Keyboard with lighted case? Better, worse, about the same? (I know this is somewhat dependent on the Paperwhite brightness setting) ...

Source: www.makeuseof.com --- Thursday, May 09, 2013
<img src="http://main.makeuseoflimited.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/amazon-kindle-paperwhite-review.jpg" & width="150" & height="150" style="margin: 5pt 10px 0px 0px; float: left;" border="1" align="left" alt="" />The Kindle Paperwhite is Amazon’s current flagship reader, and one that we’ve been wanting to review and give away for quite some time. The newest iteration to Amazon’s eReaders comes with built-in light, making it possible to read your book in any lighting situation, including complete darkness. On paper (no pun intended), this should be the perfect combination between an E-Ink reader and a tablet, bringing in the best of both worlds. You can get the Kindle Paperwhite in four different versions: Wi-Fi reader with Special Offers ($119), Wi-Fi reader without Special Offers ($139), 3G reader with Special Offers ($179), and 3G reader without Special Offers ($199). Our review unit is the Special Offers Wi-Fi version , which means you can only use it to synchronize your books when there’s Wi-Fi around, but as you don’t have to do this often, it’s seldom a problem. If you already own a Kindle or a different eReader, you may be wondering if it’s worth your while to upgrade to the new Kindle Paperwhite. This is what we’re here to find out for you. And as always, one lucky reader will get the chance to win a shiny new Kindle Paperwhite worth $119 ! Introduction eReaders such as the Kindle are revolutionizing the book industry. If you own an eReader, you can start reading your book of choice in mere minutes after deciding you want to do so. They don’t wrinkle and tear, and there’s a dictionary definition waiting for you behind every word. ...
