Nicolas Colsaerts' match against Graeme McDowell went right down the drain. On the par-4 10th hole at the World Match Play, the Belgian hit his tee shot over a concrete restroom and into the trees. An official on the scene made the surprise ruling that the building itself represented the nearest point of relief (no pun intended). After Colsaerts dropped near the toilet, he was given a free drop outside the restroom because the structure was classified as an immovable obstruction. It’s nice knowing sometimes that professional golfers hits some shots like some of us unprofessionals do. Lee Westwood was an example of this in The Players Championship , and now Nicolas Colsaerts give us some more after he hit a tee shot into a bathroom at the quarterfinals of the Volvo World Match Play Championship on Saturday. The ball was in a hazard, and the rules official said that the point of relief would actually be inside the bathroom itself, which led to hilarious jokes and puns. Colsaerts’ drop gives a new meaning to ‘taking relief’. Belgium’s Nicolas Colsaerts played Northern Ireland’s Graeme McDowell in the quarter final of the Volvo World Match Play on the weekend and found himself taking a drop in the toilet.
