The Morgan State University Estuarine Research Center in St. Leonard, Maryland (Calvert County) is holding an Open House Friday June 28 th . The Center is located near the Patuxent River which is part of the Chesapeake Bay Watershed. The Center’s mission is to conduct innovative research to investigate the complex interactions that define our environment. To conduct this research, the Center has lab space, clean rooms, research ships, and scuba diving facilities. The Center has a K-12 Education program which is focused on marine biology of the Chesapeake Bay’s ecosystem. Both the Calvert County and Baltimore City Public Schools are using the Center to formulate their environmental programs.
